    PROLOGUE

Joseph Cympio’s father left him and his mother and headed for Las Vegas, Nevada where he opened up a brothel in 1973. Despite the fact Joe had problems with his father’s abandonment, he stayed loyal to his mother and did what he could to help her out at home. School and work were another matter altogether. He hated school, and although he made it to college, he eventually dropped out. Any time he found a decent enough job that paid well, Joe ended up fired or he would quit. Most of the places he worked, the bosses fired him for the ruthless way he treated people. They said he needed to change or leave. Joe usually told anyone who said that that they could go to hell.

There was one thing in Joe’s life that he thought had not been a disaster, his relationship with his girlfriend. No matter what he had done or went through, she stayed by his side. When Joe left college he and Mariana Devek from Clark County, Nevada got married. His mother told him he would bring only heartache to Mariana. She and Joe argued about his marriage every time they saw each other. So, he and Mariana moved two hundred miles from where
