    Chapter 1

I watched the rain pound my little car parked near my office, and couldn't help but feel blue.

A heavy rain in Miami was always depressing rather than refreshing. It seemed like it was always warmer when it got done. The uncomfortable humidity would stick to you like a wet glue that never dried.

I grew up in the Florida panhandle which was pretty sopping wet with humidity in it's own right. But it at least it seemed like it cooled off in the winter for stretches.

Oh well, I had bigger things to worry about than south Florida weather, which was a good thing.

I shook my head. Frustration ate me up at every turn for the few weeks prior.

I wasn't going to get rid of her. She had two kids and a lazy asshole druggie boyfriend she was keeping afloat financially.

I knew after I hired her she had lied on her resume. But there was no turning back. I couldn't. She reminded me too much of the people I knew back home. So dirt poor and so stuck, that it made you numb with sadness.

Those were the kind of people I was going to take care of. No matter what. It's what I owed to Tyler's memory.

I was over the broken heart of knowing he was with Natalie when
