Alexis Donkin

Alexis Donkin was born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. At the age of five she moved to Albany, New York where she spent her formative years. Her mother started reading to her while she was in utero, and Alexis began writing stories when she was in late elementary school. Taught like many authors that she couldn't make a go of writing, Alexis didn't pursue it as a career however she never stopped journaling and writing poems. In her professional life, Alexis wrote articles and guidebooks, but never attempted to write fiction. It wasn't until she was almost finished with graduate school that she began entertaining the idea of writing novels. After marrying, and moving around with limited job prospects, Alexis did some soul-searching and decided it was time to try writing seriously. This resulted in her first book, THE BROTHERS, of the KHLOE ALWELL SERIES. The next year brought its sequel, LOVERS AND RIVALS. A new series, THE ROLLINS PACK, was begun soon after with its first installment, JAMES. Her books reference her life experience in the mid-Atlantic and New England as well as the West Coast. Important themes in her work include the environment, and conflict resolution, as well as gender and family issues. While these are not necessarily easy or small topics, Alexis writes personally with a grounded voice in an effort to make her work enjoyable and accessible. It is her hope that such a voice encourages readers to think and talk about issues they haven't before.
