Tango!
It was getting dark, so I knew that Mommy should be home soon. The real mystery, however, was why Daddy hadn’t come home yet. I could hear the thunder in the distance, so I was obviously concerned. Worried, though, would be a more accurate description of how I felt at that moment.
No, please don’t be silly now! I was not afraid of the thunderstorm; at least, no longer. Remember? I was worried about my Daddy because, as you might be well aware, there are numerous accidents when it rains.
On the way back from our vacation on the beach, it had started to rain heavily. Daddy had taken over the driving from Mommy when we reached the first rest stop. Daddy was always a careful driver. Whenever Mommy asked him why he drove slowly, he would always give the same answer, I have done all the speeding I wanted to when I was young. Now, I am responsible for our family. Besides, I don’t drive too slowly; it’s always within the speed limit, that’s all. Speed limits and rules are there for a reason – our safety!
As we drove home slowly in the torrential downpour, I noticed several accidents along the way. Most of the cars involved had been the ones who had overtaken us dangerously before they wound up smashed, broken and bent.
