About this ebook
The bears frightened the family away from the Colorado Mountains, but bears can seem benign when true evil shows itself. A retired railroad engineer taking his last train ride brings the horror down the tracks where he shares it with the Hoffman family. Noah Woods has no concern for the Hoffmans or any other passengers, this being his final ride, but the Hoffmans are caught between Woods and something unspeakable that doesn’t care about the Hoffmans either. They don't know how but they have to try to stop this horror ride. Something large is trying to break into the carriage.

Nice to meet you. I live in New Zealand but travel a lot, especially to Paris and New York. My stories are often set in New York because it's one of the great cities and New Yorkers are something special. My hat goes off to New York cops. It needs a special kind of person to take on crime in the city. New Orleans is my other favourite US city.Other things - I'm married with one adult daughter and a 17 year old cat. I enjoy writing, which i do full-time now, and I read non-stop. I like beer, barbeque and burlesque. I stop for red lights but I frequently fail to keep within the speed limits.

It started out simply enough - a family holiday in Colorado. We’d booked into our usual cabin, the cabin we liked so much we were booked up three summers ahead. It was where we did family things. We climbed, we canoed, we rafted, we walked and we hiked. ‘We’ are my wife Trudy, me, Dan, and our kids, Sam and Myf, short for Myfanwy. They’re great kids, 12 and 10 respectively. They like their parents and mostly do as they’re told and you can’t get better than that from kids. Mind you, they like to dispute things with Trudy and me and with each other. I don’t mind that. Mostly they argue peacefully, but if they think we’ve been unreasonable, and especially if they think we’re feeding them bullshit, they’ll argue all night.
The first time we went to Colorado, Sam was just a year old and we back-packed him everywhere and when Myf turned up we back-packed her as well. It gave us something to share, something we all loved – fresh air and the outdoors.
About seven years back we adults decided we needed a little more comfort, so we gave up camping and rented a cabin. The kids didn’t care either
