About this ebook
Dramatic fiction illustrating an extraordinary woman's rapport with three extraordinary men: Nietzsche, Rilke and Freud. Lou Andreas-Salomé had a love affair with Rilke, an intimate friendship with Nietzsche and a pupil, confidant propinquity with Freud. A muse of a woman who without a doubt had a vast influence on these, at the time, relatively unknown men.

LOU ANDREAS SALOMÉ
MOTHER, LOVER, VIRGIN
SCENE 1. CHURCH SAN PIETRO IN VINCOLI
Nietzsche is in a church admiring the statue of Miguel Angel Moses
, with his unrestrained moustache, thick glasses and imperious demeanor. 37 years old. Lou Salomé right next to him. A 22 years old blond, with her hair down, bright, radiant, and holding a book in her hands. Nietzsche kneels, takes Salomé's hands, plants a kiss and in a ponderous gesture, closes them and lets them go.
NIETZSCHE
Here, in this sunny Italy, immortal, smiling, dry, beer, Protestantism and above all, no Wagner music, I ask you, Louise-Salomé; marry me.
SALOMÉ
But, this is only the second time we've met. Don't you think it's a hasty decision?
NIETZSCHE
When we are together, Louise, time ceases to exist. Everything transforms into feelings, and I am no longer my master.
SALOMÉ
You men believe that a woman's friendship gives you the right to go further.
NIETZSCHE
Only because in your presence is when I feel human.
SALOMÉ
Perhaps too human.
NIETZSCHE
We men pursuit absolute beauty. Women cannot afford those luxuries. Having known one that does is a privilege I cannot let pass.
SALOMÉ
You overestimate me, Herr Professor Nietzsche! Appointed at the vernal age of 24! Three years older than what I'm now. The youngest professor in Europe. A true prodigy!
NIETZSCHE
We all want to succeed in the academic field; success, fame, wealth. But I never chose them. It is a life given to me.
SALOMÉ
To be a Herr Professor wasn't a choice of yours?
NIETZSCHE
No, it wasn't. If we do not set goals, life simply turns into an accident. Instead of living it, it lives us.
SALOMÉ
For that same reason is why I left Russia; because of others' opinions in my life's direction.
NIETZSCHE
By then, and for a long time, I was the boy of the infinite promise. But not any more. Now, just like everyone else, I'm inevitably heading towards death.
SALOMÉ
Why did you quit the university?
NIETZSCHE
Health issues as a result of my professor obligations. Then, I took the road in pursuit of the hardest profession: the
