About the Authors

Meet Jenni

Jenni Joslyn is an author and an entrepreneur with a passion for uplifting the next generation of leaders. As a professional child model and actress, Jenni went on to study biochemistry and political science in college. She was also trained in dance and had an opportunity to perform in San Diego with the Russian Moscow Ballet. Jenni then paid her experience forward by teaching after-school dance programs to elementary school children. A few years ago, Jenni launched her company, Next Jen, which oversees her much-visited lifestyle blog and promotes health, wellness, and financial independence across all age groups. Her hobbies include writing works of fiction, golfing, and traveling. Jenni has an affinity for worn boots, warm beverages, and inspiring company.

Meet Candice

Candice Henry is an author and communicator with a passion for youth leadership development. She enjoys investing into the lives of young women and has spoken at multiple conferences for teens. Candice graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications and is completing her master’s degree in executive leadership through Liberty University. She has been involved in youth leadership training for 13 years and youth ministry for 4 years. As a former Miss Liberty and an avid blogger, Candice combines her writing and communication skills to share truths about beauty, purpose, and achieving dreams. She also enjoys traveling, event styling, and reading.

We’re so thrilled that you’re joining us for the ongoing conversation we’re going to have over the next few days. And really, a conversation is how we hope you’ll see these sessions. We see this as a dialogue between the both of us and you! Whether you’re sitting in your room with a cup of tea, journal, and a pen; meeting with a group of friends; or perched on a stool in your favorite cafe, coffee in hand we’re imagining that we’re joining you for a few moments to just chat. There are a lot of things that happen in life, and while we definitely don’t claim to know it all, we have experienced a lesson or two that we deemed worthy of sharing. Our hope is that you’ll find something in it that speaks to you, right where you are now. We highly encourage you to journal your thoughts as you go through each session. It’s important to invest time in God’s word and to write down anything that He reveals to you, as well as your response to some of the questions and ideas that are posed each day. Through the stories, celebrations, mistakes, and experiences we’re about to share are truths that will benefit you also. Our desire is that you learn from what we’ve done, gain an answer to a question you might have, grow in who you are, and find God’s best for your life, as that is the foremost important thing. Without faith, life as we know it could not be possible, and it is only by the grace of God that either of us could be able to share a little bit of our lives with you. IT WAS A MOMENT I VISUALIZED OVER AND OVER, THE HOST ANNOUNCING MY NAME AS THE WINNER. AND YOUR NEW MISS AMERICA IS ... I IMAGINED WHAT IT WOULD FEEL LIKE TO HAVE THE CROWN PLACED ON MY HEAD, THE SASH ACROSS MY CHEST, AS I WALKED DOWN THE RUNWAY AS THE NEW TITLEHOLDER, WAVING TO THE AUDIENCE AND THE CAMERAS. THRILLED TO BE IN SUCH A PLACE OF INFLUENCE, I KNEW THIS PLATFORM WAS THE OPPORTUNITY I HAD BEEN WAITING FOR.

Day 1

Excited by the prospect of being able to have a platform through which I could positively influence the next generation, take advantage of opportunities to network with some influential people and companies, as well as have the chance to win a good-sized scholarship, I found myself training to compete in a pageant.
