About this ebook

Thirty three year old Nina Kelly is a mother on the edge. After being the victim of several 'unsolved' burglaries her faith in the police has hit an all time low. When her fifteen year old son, Adam is brutally attacked by a local gang boss this is the final straw. Fed up of being trampled all over she decides to take the law in to her own hands with devastatingly violent consequences.

About the author: Leon Freeman was born in South Manchester in 1982. After growing up around criminality in his formative years he eventually became immersed in Manchester's criminal underworld as a young adult. Now several years after turning his life around he has decided to put pen to paper and give readers an authentic taste of the life he was once part of. His aim is to write stories that reflect some of the violence and crimes he has both been a part of and witnessed over the past thirty years.

Quote from the author: "Every character I create in my books are real people that I'm either friends with or have met in my time on the streets. Obviously I change their names and the actual stories I write are mostly fabricated but the characters are very much real people. The benefit I have then when writing is, I know how all the characters would react in the scenario's that I create based on what I know about the actual person in real life."

    INTRODUCTION

Nina Kelly is a white, thirty-three year old single mother of one who is sick of being a victim! The south Manchester council estate she lives on has turned from a once friendly community to a hive of drug activity and gang violence. After her flat is burgled for the third time in two years, and with the police never being able to catch the culprits due to a wall of silence on the estate, Adam, her fifteen year old son getting attacked by a local gang boss is the final straw….if the police didn’t have the ball’s to stand up to the low life bastards responsible then she would have to take matters into her own hands.

    CHAPTER ONE: EARLY SEPTEMBER

Nina’s son burst through the living room door just as her favourite soap coronation street had finished. Her eyes didn’t leave television screen until she heard her son whimpering.

Mum I need a towel! he was holding his face with his hands in a feeble attempt to stop the blood pouring from his nose.

What the fucks happened to you? Nina shouted, pulling his hands away from his face to assess the damage. Adam. Who did this? Her voice was now more concerned than shocked. She led him into the kitchen and pulled an orange towel from the laundry basket. Lean your head back and keep the towel on it. Adam rested his body weight against the washing machine and let out a sigh.

I just got into a bit of a scrap mum, its nothing.

Nina looked down at the blue Nike hooded top she had bought him for his birthday a few weeks earlier, it was covered in blood. A bit of a scrap, look at your top. Look at your nose! Adam looked down at his top. Tilt your head back! She shouted. Nina noticed an inch long gash on the back of his hand. What’s that? She said pointing to the cut that was now trickling with blood.

One of them had a knife. He replied as he inspected his wound."

A knife, a fucking knife? she screamed. Which dirty cunt’s tried to stab you? A tear rolled down her cheek as the realisation of how bad the situation could have been hit home. Adam was her only child and she had been his protector ever since his good for nothing father left them both in the lurch to go back to Jamaica when Adam was only two years old. She had been the boy’s mother and father almost all his life. It was her that taught him how to ride a bike, kick a football and even how to throw a punch, a skill that was definitely
