About this ebook

Icebergs brighten
as the sky peels
itself of darkness
and stretches awake. . . .

Welcome,
Summer.
We've been waiting
for you.

Experience summer like you've never experienced it before by traveling to Antarctica with evocative poetry. The sun rises, ice melts, grass grows, seals squabble, whales sing, and young penguins slide, glide, and belly flop. Whimsical illustrations and additional facts accompany each poem to provide further details about the animals and the environment at the bottom of the world.

This is a great selection of poetry in varying styles describing the flora and fauna of Antarctica in the summer. The various poems give a vivid description of some aspect of the animal behaviour whether it is dealing with mating, food or family. After the poem, there is a description of the animal, plant or subject of the poem. The illustrations are vivid watercolour type images that mesh well with the poetry. It gives a fun, easily read opportunity to learn about Antarctica.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest view.
