Brianna - Ralph Nelson Willett
Introduction
Grief can make faith in God difficult. But what if God gave us signs to demonstrate his love for us. Would we see them? Would we understand them? Can we trust him even though it feels like we’re being punished for some unknown sin?
When we understand that our own doubts and fears are natural and even normal we can then begin to slowly turn to a faith that can be strong even without signs.
The story of Brianna’s brings us from grief to joy as we follow her through a difficult season in her life. We can understand her doubt and pain and ultimately her relief as God demonstrates his love for her in unusual ways.

Chapter 1.
"Look Mommy. The little girl pointed at the brightly colored fish in the tank. The room was dimly lit by the light coming from the thick floor to ceiling glass of the aquarium viewing window. The little girl touched the glass with her finger and the fish edged up to the side as if it were trying to let her touch it.
It’s beautiful, sweetie."
Brianna knelt down beside her daughter and put her arm around her waist pulling her in tightly. The fish followed the little girl as she swept her finger slowly back and forth and side to side. It’s following me.
I can see that.
They both stood in awe of how the fish followed her finger around the tank.
Mommy, why are you crying?
The little girl was looking up into her mother’s face. Brianna hadn’t realized she was crying and now it seemed she couldn’t stop. She placed her hand on the glass to support herself, bowed her head and sobbed as her tears fell to the floor. The little girl moved her finger along the glass to her mother’s hand. As the fish followed she removed her hand just as they reached her mother’s and the fish remained there.
Brianna looked up and saw the fish lightly tapping the glass from the inside as if it were trying to touch her fingers. Then the little girl found another fish, placed her finger on the glass and dragged it along as the fish followed to her mother's hand. The fish remained where the little girl left it facing Brianna's hand. Again and again, the little girl did this until an entire school of fish floated before her. Some of them gently tapped the glass as if kissing it. Others simply floated right where the little girl left them. Brianna tilted her head in amazement at the sight. Hundreds of fish were all focused on her.
No longer crying she stood while holding her hand on the glass.
Mommy?
She looked down and saw her daughters face beaming up at her. It’s alright now.
