Exercising Ourselves to Death
()
About this ebook
This book is unlikely to be popular in many quarters. Firstly, there is a large, international industry that supports and encourages extreme exercise. Secondly, the number of participants in marathons, long-distance cycling events, triathlons, and extreme gym workouts is increasing dramatically. Over 500,000 runners completed a marathon in the US last year, and twice that many outside the US.
However, the scientific evidence that I will be presenting in this book, in lay terms, will explain clearly how extreme exercise may be damaging our health and even reducing our lifespan. You will be able to review the most up to date medical data on how our hearts and immune system may be detrimentally affected and what the mechanism for that is..
Lets not forget that the first marathon was apparently run by Pheidippides, who ran the 26.2 miles from Marathon to Sparta, to proclaim the victory of the Greeks over the Persians and then promptly fell down dead.
