Global meat consumption and production has increased dramatically over the past 40 years, but still many of us refuse to stop and truly consider the implications of this. The meat produced today is highly industrialized and, like it or not, eating it has serious implications-for animals, humans, and the planet we share.
Eating Animals is one man's quest to find out what it truly means to eat meat in this day and age. It explores where meat comes from, the practicalities of providing edible flesh for a swelling world populous, and how necessary a meat-based diet truly is. Not to be mistaken for simple propaganda for a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle, this book instead offers a thorough, objective, and balanced account of what animal agriculture looks like in the present day-and the full implications of choosing to eat animals.
You will learn:
· The hidden costs of industrialized farming
· Why we choose to eat certain animals and domesticate others
· The relationship between morality and diet choice.

What’s it about?
While vegetarians are often quizzed about their eating habits, few meat eaters are pressed to explain their choice. In reality, for many, being a meat eater is not a proactive choice
that they have made. Unlike the decision to cut down on meat consumption or avoid it altogether, which is usually the result of careful deliberation, many meat eaters have never consciously asserted, either to themselves or others, that they accept the practice of eating meat. It is simply their default position.
Unfortunately, the idyllic notion of local farmers lovingly tending to their land and livestock to make a livelihood and feed their community is worlds apart from the brutal realities of factory farming and the mass production of meat for mass consumption. And these are realities that not too many people are prepared to confront head-on. If offered to be shown a video of where their meat came from, most would be averse to watching, silently understanding that the footage would look less like Babe and more like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Eating Animals examines the human mentality toward meat, considering both the ethical and moral dilemmas that the consumption of animals poses in this day and age. It is not intended to lecture, nor present
