    Tin Drum Hearts Beating

    I keep no memories

    instead

    I dream in cobalt

    indigo

    robin's egg

    sapphire

    sky.

    The colour of her eyes.

    In my dreams

    smell is the sense that is the strongest.

    Her breath is layers of smoke and peppermints

    my own

    is of Juicy Fruit

    and Dubble Bubble.

    Her neck and fingertips

    are a blend

    of Ivory Soap

    and

    L'air Du Temps perfume by Windsong.

    Mine is that of wet earth and crayon wax.

    She wore lacquered cherries in her hair

    and they shone smoothly in my hand

    when I brushed and brushed her dark brown
