Dear Reader, Thank you for sharing in the excitement of my novels! I am a church choir singer, wife and mother of two. To acquire a real "taste" of my literary essence, here is my recipe for a delicious read: - 1 strong, sensitive female - 1 sensitive, strong male -Add in several heaping spoonfuls of full-bodied love -Season throughout with salty characters -Pepper with good and evil -Blend above ingredients together--along with a hefty sprinkling of sensuality and sweetness -Stir in chunks of raw emotion -Keep it juicy -Steam and serve!

2 stars only for premise. I so wanted to like this story, but I just could not get past how overwritten it is. The style, the execution, the... SYNONYMS.

I was intrigued by the premise, excited to see about these "neighbors from hell." We are constantly told how awful they are ("their callous, selfish attitude, this seemingly irresponsible couple...") but in truth, meh. When the MC's bad day is "on a magnitude of 1 to 10... a 7 on the Richter Scale of disaster," I want to smack her and have her experience some real suffering.

The main problem with the piece is it is brutal thesaurus writing. The author clearly loves that thesaurus she has at the ready for she uses it at every turn. Ice cream on her face? Nah, it is "her flavorful countenance." Settled in bed? Nah, she is "safely ensconced in her boudoir." I love a good word as much as the next person, however, the problem is the language here reads completely false sandwiched between the colloquial "yippees," "yays," "I'm pissed off," and "No Miss Snot Nose" of the 22-year-old main character. "What I needed was surcease from this cruel life." Really?

    Some choice phrases were groaners.
"My workday was... tediously mundane, yet heavily laborious."

"...my never ending, mind-blowing conundrum of restructuring my life."
Because she ate pancakes and watched a movie when her mom had her kid for the morning?

"...unusually salty words from a classy lady."
Oh, she is classy? Hadn't noticed.

"Oh if only life could yield me a basket of ripe fruit, and stain my heart and soul with its flavorful bounty."
    Oh please.

I wholeheartedly agreed with the demonic voice when it told her, "Really, Meg, your constant wordplays are becoming tiresome even to me."

On a total side note, why is there never a mention about getting the child with the night terrors help? It just a pity party for Meg because she is not getting any sleep.
