Mojito
The year was 1842, the place a port in the Caribbean, on the island of Cuba, a pirate ship docked in the port and down a picturesque crew, commanded, the British corsair and pirate Sir. Francis Drake, the forced passage through the tavern of this group of sailors is not worth waiting for, and when you reach the rustic bar pirate scourge Caribbean Gran order a drink in common use at the time.

According to historians Sir Francis Drake drank this preparation often given the name of draquesito, then with the passing of the years and as in preparing lime and mint ingredients of a sauce Cuban cuisine called Mojo used, he was given the nickname Mojito to refer to drink.
Preparation step by step:
In a glass, they are added:
2 tsp Brown Sugar
Juice of half a lemon
Mix vigorously to create what they call the champagne effect as shaking the lemon and sugar creates a mixture that resembles this drink.
A branch of peppermint or mint is added and pestle with mint against sugar is crushed, the idea is to remove the natural oils from the grass without breaking the leaves, the key is to crush the stems.
Add crushed ice and pour 60 ml. Ron White, complete with soda, stir straw making sure that the branches of mint in the background are trapped by ice, garnish with a slice of lemon or lime.
A version called Mojito Criollo adds a drop of bitters to cut the sweetness.
Today in many bars a variety called Mojito Scottish, which is composed of Whiskey Blend, mango pulp, sugar and mint, this drink for being sweeter has consistently attracted followers is offered.
A curious fact ,, it is said that in the era of Prohibition in the United States, the characters of high society, traveled to Cuba to enjoy the benefits of liquor, however as they were accustomed to strong body of Ron, they offered mojitos that make it more pleasing to their palates drink, this made after lifted the ban, the Mojito became the favorite in many areas and bars in the United States, this story has been wrongly think that the Mojito was created at that time to meet the growing demand for North American customers seeking alternative to Cuba for their holidays.
