    CHAPTER ONE

She walked with sure footed steps towards the arcade. The breeze blew as she walked against it. It blew her hair backwards and her small scarce looked like it would break free from her neck where it was tied. In her arm was a medium sized tote bag. It was obvious that she had packed in a hurry as the bag was not even properly zipped up. Her make up was slightly smudged and it left a tiny trail of mascara around her cheeks. She constantly looked over her shoulder as she walked. Almost as if she expected something to jump out of the shadows at her. Then as if on cue, she heard someone shout behind her:

Police! Stop!! And she had promptly started to run. She ran blindly without even looking to see what was chasing her and then she bumped into something solid and fell down flat. Before she could steady herself enough to actually get up and leave, the police officer was on top of her with guns drawn.

Put your hands where I can see them! He shouted and her hands shot up above her head. Her eyes had been firmly closed and she was shaking visibly. Your hands where I can see them right now the police officer yelled over and over again. She wondered briefly why he continued to shout the instructions even when she had complied. Then he started yelling:

Get on the floor right now. On the floor! Put your hands where I can see them and get on the floor! She almost laughed at the irony of the situation. She was already on the floor and it didn't make any sense that he was asking her to get on the floor. She opened one eye even though fear still coursed through her veins and looked in the direct ion of the police officer. He wasn't there anymore. He was bending over a man right in front of her and saying something that she couldn't hear. Then the police officer brought out handcuffs and slapped the cuff on a man that had fallen right beside her. It was then that she realized that the wall she had fallen over was a man and that the police officer had not been after her at all, but after him. And now she realized what trouble she has put herself into. Her heart continued to pound furiously for the minutes that follows even after she was already far away from the spot. Then she started sweating profusely, looking so confused and frightened.

What have I gotten myself into? She thought over and over as she skirted the crowd and walked through the maze of houses like someone who indeed knew her way around the place. She avoided everyone in uniforms even if they were just security officials
