First his lips brushed against Lee’s. Then their lips fully engage. The suction begins subtly, just to the point where she closes her eyes. She vanishes inside him. I have to tell Michael. Even though his client deserved what had happened to him, richly deserved to have had his personal affairs aired far and wide across the internet. I’d woken up in a sweat. I couldn’t remember the dream, but I knew that it meant that I had to tell Michael that we had found the Cyber Culprit. I racked my brain for an alternative.

But there was no escaping that Michael Rayburn had paid me to track the Cyber Culprit down and, just because CC had a reason, didn’t give him the right to destroy careers and lives, didn’t give him the right to violate privacy, to show people in their secret sexual moments. Except maybe the distracted driver who’d killed the innocent woman because he just had to send one last text. Except him. He deserved.

And I could understand CC’s rage intensifying after Michael had got the distracted driver off on a technicality. The driver might have escaped prison but CC had imposed a different punishment.

However, and here was the tragedy, CC in his righteous anger had cast his net of punishment too wide. Innocent parties had been harmed. Parties who’d had no
