About this ebook

Curl up with Cathy Lamb, an author you will come to cherish, as she makes you laugh, cry and reach for the chocolate.

Ever since the Bommarito sisters were little girls their mother has written them a letter on pink paper when she has something especially important to tell them. And this time, the message is urgent and impossible to ignore, she requires open heart surgery, and Isabelle and her sisters are needed at home to run the family bakery and to take care of their brother, Henry, and ailing grandmother.

Poignant, funny, and as irresistible as one of the Bommarito Bakery's delicious giant cupcakes, Henry's Sisters is a novel about family and forgiveness, about mothers and daughters, and about gaining the wisdom to look ahead while still holding tight to everything that matters most.

So dysfunctional--I laughed, I cried, I could not put it down. One of the best books I have ever read!!!!

I truly enjoyed this book. It made me laugh and cry; a book that can draw emotion is a winner for me. Not recommended for reading in public places if you really want to let the tears flow.

if i could give this book more than 5 stars, i would. i laughed out loud and cryed out loud. i don't remember the last time i read a book that so effectively hit every human emotion and did it well. the main characters are all loveable but damaged in their own way. the mother is a character you like to dislike.

What a delight! Henry is a mentally challenged adult and is the most loving accepting person in Trillium River, Oregon. When River Bommarito has to have surgery her 3 daughters come home to Trillium River to care for their brother Henry, their Grandma who thinks she is Amelia Earhart, and the family bakery business. The story weaves it's way through the past and present revealing dark family secrets and the healing power that only time and family can unleash. I love every minute of it.

I loved this book. This story is about three sisters who come together to take care of their disabled brother while their mother is having open heart surgery. Each sisters brings different emotional baggage with her as they come together to take care of their handicapped brother. As the story unfolds we find out about their terrible childhoods and the effects it has on their life. The center of the book is Henry, a mentally challeneged man who is the glue that holds the family together. What happens when that glue might not be there forever? Their grandmother, who thinks she is Amelia Earhart, provides bits of comic relief throughout the story.I devoured this book like a brownie, hardly moving from my favorite chair alternately laughing and crying. I highly recommend this book.

I enjoyed most of this book and laughed outloud more than once. I did not enjoy the foreshadowing, but I never enjoy foreshadowing, so this isn't the book's fault.

Cathy Lamb has a way of describing the horribleness of people in great detail. All of her books that I have read have been extremely horrible in the beginning. Lamb describes people being cruel to others, destructive to themselves. That mode continues through the book. In this book, Henry is the light through the horribleness.
