About this ebook

My dad stole money.

A lot of money.

And now his boss is coming to collect.

My dad has been stealing money from the company where he works. Now the CEO wants his head and possibly mine.

My dad fled the country already.

Without him, I’m going to take the fall.

His boss comes to me with a proposition. I can pay off the debt.

Ten nights.

No holds barred.

I say no, of course. I’m not that kind of person.

It doesn’t matter that his boss is a former male model.

It doesn’t matter that he’s always made my heart beat faster.

It doesn’t matter that he is the smartest person I’ve ever met.

Nope. None of that matters at all. There are some things that money can’t buy, and I’m one of them.

Then I find myself texting him

    Hitting

    That

    Jordan

    Thwack !

    Motherfucker!

Oh shit. I know that growly voice.

Sorry! My voice is so high-pitched that I sound like a girl. I cringe, because I’ve hit the CEO in the face with the bathroom door. I can already feel my face turning red, heat rushing to my cheeks.

I stand back from the door, wishing that I could fall through the floor. What a stupid mistake to make on the last day of my internship. I clench my fists as the bathroom door swings open again.

He’s holding his nose. His cheek is pink from where I

    hit

    him

    .

    Oh god oh god

    oh

    god

    .

I can practically see steam coming out of his ears until he sees me standing on the

    other

    side

    .

    Jordan.

    "Mr.

    Anderson

    ,

    sir

    ."

I’ve told you to call me Greg a million times.

    "You have, Mr.

    Anderson

    .

    Sir

    ."

He just laughs and shakes his head. His dimples come out. "I’m going to let this one slide. Get out of here before I change

    my

    mind

    ."

I get the fuck out of the bathroom, hyperventilating.

Only to run into my best friend. Jessa is leaning against the wall, a smug grin on

    her

    face

    .

He likes you, she teases. "You

    can

    tell

    ."

If it’s even possible, my face is even

    hotter

    now

    .

Shut up. I look around, but nobody is paying attention to us. I cover my face with my hands. "

    Oh

    god

    ."

"If you hadn’t smashed a door into the CEO’s face, maybe they’d invite you back to Rainbowery next summer. Guess that’s off the

    table

    ,

    huh

    ?"

    "Jessa,

    shut

    up

    !"

"I’m just kidding. He must like you. Someone else would’ve been out on his ass after smacking Mr. Anderson in the face. If you were someone else, he would’ve ripped you a

    new

    one

    ."

I don’t know why he didn’t, I say, my voice muffled by my fingers. I’m still covering

    my

    face

    .

"Mr. Anderson and Jordan, sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-

    N

    -

    G

    …"

Shut up, Jessa! At this rate, I’m going to explode into a fireball of awkwardness. It’s bad enough that I have a crush on the CEO. It would be even worse if the entire office knew. I haven’t heard that song since elementary school, anyway.

She sits down in my spare chair.

I say that you go for it. She fans herself with one hand. "That man is fire. If he were straight or even bi, I’d go after him like

    a

    shot

    ."

She would, too. Objectively, Jessa is hot as fire, even though girls just don’t do anything for me. She has the perfect face of a doll with long, long blonde hair that goes to her waist. She’s very aggressive and has never been turned down in her whole life. She’s a kissing slut, even though she’s a virgin.

    You would, Whore Barbie.

She sticks her lip out, pouting at me. She gives me sad eyes which makes straight guys fall to their knees.

I’m made of sterner (and gayer) stuff.

Her voice is breathy and sad. Is that a nice thing to say to your bestie? Her eyes are shiny with tears.

I just snort. "Turn off the waterworks, princess. They don’t work

    on

    me

    ."

The sun comes out. She grins at me and then winks like I’m a co-conspirator.

That’s why we’re besties for life. She twirls the end of a strand of hair around her right index finger. For real, though, I’d hit that. And unlike you, it’d be figuratively. Not literally.

I have to change the subject before the entire office hears about my unrequited crush on Mr. Anderson.

Do you know what time we’re going to party tonight?

Eight. I’ll come by your place at 7. We can get ready together.

We have a pre-party ritual that we do together. We’ve done it since we went to our first high school dance. She brings over a couple dresses and her makeup kit and then bitches about the lighting in my bathroom while spending most of the time putting on makeup. We put on a lot of Christina
