    -J.L.S.

A child wanders through and finds

Its place right by a winter stream.

    Throwing stones may not always

Break the ice, but it can crack

    The frozen colony.

    Are you lost, little girl?

Do you need the hand of some

    Strong adult?

    Cold in the seventeenth century

And looking for a heart who likes

Blonde hair (golden locks) and blue eyes.

I see that you have lost your mother,

    And you have no father.

    Let God take control of the situation;

No more nightmares, and no more tears.

    10/5/02

I saw you, but you were blinded

    By the snow—

Such a handsome man dressed in the

    Whitest cloth.

Time and time again, I have you

In my dreams during the candlelit night,

And you have haunted me ever since.

This is not going to affect me,

Unless the timing is off and I

    Fall into your arms.

Walk with me, my dear, and let my

Warm touch thaw your icy hand.

Oh, you have changed my life in

    So many ways.

    10/5/02

    Some October night—a looming castle

    Seen overhead.

This weary traveler is scared and

Doesn’t know what else to do.

    So, he hears the names—music

From pipe organs and decides to go inside.

    Madness and illusion flowing

    Through his brain—

    The moon is full,

But the night is not getting warmer.

Going through some kind of maze,

Like a funhouse of the past.

What are you doing by these

    Cracked and tainted mirrors?

    You can see the paleness

Of the white vampire behind you.

Usually, their reflection does not show.

Now, go inside the old ballroom

And think back to all the joyous events

That used to take place in there

Before you return to the treacherous truth.

    Circles your mind in running,

As you find that the madness

    Does not decrease.

Begging, pleading for a way out, as you find

That there may no longer be any hope.

    Now, all the lights in your mind go out;

    Redemption comes through death—

    Hands creeping across your flesh.

    Now, the light is coming,

But you won’t want to see it at first.

Be brave, be brave, be brave…

Everything will be all right, just as you are

    Being sucked into another realm.

    10/5/02

    Enter into this haunted mansion

And howl at the light being cast

    By the moon.

    As we always find ourselves

In such a great situation; you know

    That there’s no turning back.

    I’m avoiding all the signs

That go off in my head, yet I

    See something ahead, so clear

    And so crisp.

Cut off by the gates that put

    Spikes into
