Alpha-Beta Bronson - Damon Powell
Future
Wednesday, October 2nd seemed like any other average day in the seaside town of Ventura, California. David Bronson woke up at seven o’clock, ate his breakfast, and got ready for school. David had just started the seventh grade one month before at Ventura Middle School. That morning, David rode his bike to school with some of his friends, then he went to football practice after school, finished his homework, and turned on his favorite ninja anime show until bedtime. David admired a lot of the anime characters. He could identify with their personalities and the program storylines. He also liked the visual qualities of anime, how the animation really brought the characters and stories alive. As usual, David sat in bed thinking about all the fun things he was looking forward to in the coming weekend. This time of year, David’s weekends were just as busy as his weekdays. His football team had a big game against their crosstown rivals on Saturday morning. He was invited to a friend’s birthday party on Saturday afternoon, and his father had promised to take him surfing on Sunday. David’s house is just a few miles from the beach, and surfing was one of David’s favorite things to do. David’s father took him surfing for the first time when David was six years old, and he had been hooked ever since. David’s father liked to brag that David stood up on a wave the very first day he ever went surfing, which is rare and usually means someone has natural talent for surfing. After a few minutes spent thinking these thoughts and looking forward into the week, David dozed off.
The night of October 2nd was a very full and bright harvest moon, which is when the moon rises in the horizon early in the evening and looks brighter and bigger than any other time of year due to its orbital position from Earth. David began dreaming. Suddenly a bright figure appeared in David’s room at the foot of his bed. Normally, this would be a scary situation, but David felt warm and comforted. The figure was shaped like a person, but a bright green light emanated from his body. David was drawn to the figure. The figure began to speak, and David was not at all afraid. Instead he wondered if he was dreaming. He wasn’t sure because he felt awake.
The figure said, Hello David, I come as a friend from a distant galaxy, far away from your planet Earth. My name is Logi. Come with me up to the Moon, and I’ll tell you some exciting things you have to look forward to.
David remained completely relaxed, but at the same time he was feeling lively and alert. The bright green figure, Logi, began to float upward, and David began to float upward too, right behind Logi. They floated out of David’s window, up into the clear and brightly moonlit night sky. David was unafraid as he looked down on his town. David looked down and tried to identify his house, but the lights all just blended together. David and Logi rose higher until David realized they were in outer space. David was not cold or distressed whatsoever; he could breathe just fine; and he felt totally at peace. He looked back and could not believe how glorious Earth looked from space. Now David realized why people called Earth, The Big Blue Marble
Because that’s what it looked like from space. David remembered that he learned in school seventy percent of the Earth is water, and from space he could see Earth’s vast oceans and its perfectly round shape.
David and Logi approached the moon and eventually landed on the soft grey surface.
Come and walk with me David,
said Logi.
They began to walk across the surface of the moon, which was like soft powder. Rolling hills were created by the moon’s craters, and there were moon rocks scattered everywhere.
Why are you here? Why am I here with you?
asked David.
I am here because you have been chosen to receive very special powers, David. You will receive abilities like those of the beings on my planet, and I’m here to guide you in using those abilities for the good of mankind. David, you are about to become a super hero,
said Logi.
David laughed because what Logi said seemed like an outrageous claim.
I am just a thirteen-year-old kid from Ventura. How in the world am I a super hero? I don’t even have any muscles yet,
said David.
Logi replied, "The entire universe is made up of energy, David. That energy is more powerful than you can possibly imagine. When you can harness that positive energy, any wants, desires, or dreams can be made to come true, but the energy needs to be captured and projected outward with extreme focus to have supernatural effects. That is where you come in, David. You will be receiving and projecting this unstoppable positive energy into your environment. We are giving you the ability to channel this energy. You will have the power to make things change how you believe things should be, David.
"When you encounter a situation where someone really needs your help, your will have the power to be a super hero. They may need a change in circumstances. They may want their dreams and desires to come true, or you may simply bring them peace and happiness. You might not be helping just one person, but putting right a wrong in the world. When you encounter one of these situations, you will know you need to intervene. To begin the action, clear your mind completely of the past and imagine the green light that I am manifesting right now. The light will naturally fill your body. Start to breathe deeply, inhaling the good and exhaling to cleanse your thoughts. Electrical charges will come down from outer space into your mind. This is the unstoppable energy, David. You will feel unbreakable, like the strongest diamond on Earth, and your focus will be impenetrable. The energy will be at full force within you. That is the time, David, when you open your imagination.
Think and believe with everything you have that the things you want to change have already changed exactly how you want them to be, and I promise, they will change. The changes may take effect right away or over a period of time but rest assured, David, your powers will make it happen. I’ll tell you again, the energy is more powerful than you can possibly imagine.
That sounds amazing,
David said. I’ve never heard of anything like that.
We studied and measured the existing energy of many people on Earth, David,
Logi said. Young, old, and every age between. We chose you because of your selfless mindset. We chose you because your personality contains unusually high amounts of honor and dignity. We chose you because you naturally attract and create positive energy. We believe you will use this power to help others who really need it, and you will do so with a generous heart,
said Logi.
So, you only want me to use this energy super power to help people?
asked David.
Exactly,
Logi said. However, this power comes with tremendous responsibility. You must use it correctly. The beings on my planet want to bring advanced supernatural powers to the people of planet Earth, yet we are doing so with extreme caution. Not everyone can handle this supreme power. We believe we can trust you, David. You must not tell anyone about your super powers, not even your family.
So, it will be clear to me when I’m supposed to use the super powers?
asked David.
Yes, you will know when to use your powers,
Logi said. "They can be used anytime, for any reason as long as the use brings help and goodwill to people around you.
I think I understand. When do I start using the powers?
asked David. "Right away. I will bring you back to your room, and tomorrow
