The Hollow Needle (1909), novel
Maurice Leblanc was born in Rouen in 1864 and died in 1941. He studied law, before deciding to focus on literature and embarking on a career as a journalist. He began moving in Paris’s literary circles and published his first novel, L’Enthousiasme (Enthusiasm
), in 1901, but it was not particularly successful. He then decided to capitalise on the immense popularity of serialised novels and agreed to write for the monthly
