    Dedication

This short story is dedicated to my mom for. You rocked me to sleep singing the Disney Davy Crockett theme song and look what happened. :-)

Bottling Tennessee: A Davy Crockett Tall Tale

THE ONLY TIME HE WAS called by his given name, David, was when he served his term in Congress. His Ma called him Davy. His Pa called him Davy. And to this day he is known as Davy Crockett.

Now one might think this frontiersman was only spinning yarns about his exploits but some of his talk was true. The trick was weeding through the pound of lies to find the grain of truth. He started bear hunting with his Pa at the age of three and he learned to shoot before he could walk.

He was born to thrive in the backwoods of Tennessee, but when the good people asked him to go to Congress to represent the state, he obliged. He was never one to deny help when it was in his power to lend a hand.

Despite the odd stares and whispers behind his back, he remained true to himself when he served in Congress.
