Beaten but Unbroken: A Book of 80 Uplifting Poems
By Gene Toews
()
About this ebook
In "Beaten But Unbroken" Toews' poems are as uplifting as they are unabashedly honest and bold.
A prolific writer, Toews has been creating poems for just two years. From the very start, his poems questioned and laid bare fundamental beliefs in society, and continue to today.
Excerpt from Elysium:
"The sun falls through we horizon
The hypnotic rhythm of the rain
Full moon rising in the mist
Natures beauty eases my pain"
Even through life's challenges, the writing in "Beaten But Unbroken" shines a light on the healing power of nature

Married, with two kids and one grandson, I have been an artist for seven years. The first five years I did relief carvings of geometric designs, people, and animals. For the past two years, I've been doing abstract paintings. All my material, except for a few screws, is either from the landfill or garage sales. My grandson is born in July 2015, and that's when I started writing poetry. As for my philosophy on art, don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs are people who have come alive.

Beaten but Unbroken - Gene Toews
Moon Rise
God of the earth bless this savage
New dawn with the God of the trees
God of thunder delivers a storm
It brings this sinner to his knees
Celestial being in the sky
Psychedelic rainbow just below
Mother nature’s blazing dawn
Raging river’s hypnotic flow
Father, Son and Holy Spirit
Saviours living in the void
Guardian angel come free me
Fiery dawn I’m overjoyed
Today, your prayers will be answered
Flying on the wings of destiny
All rise to meet the creator
Walk through the gates breathlessly
Limitless power is glorious
Escape to the freedom of the skies
Gentle breeze come take me away
Waiting for the moon to rise
God’s Green Acre
Brother, will we arrive soon?
Heading up to meet your maker
Listen to the talk of angels
Welcome to God’s green acre
On the banks of the muddy river
Inhaling the primitive breeze
Bask in the dawn’s early light
Say a prayer to the God of the trees
Enter peaceful eternity
Take a stroll in the promised land
Spiritual being in the heavens
Father come take me by the hand
Freedom of a flash of lightning
Shadows on the dark side of the moon
The sunset takes your breath away
Four winds blow in the afternoon
Lead me out of the world of shadows
Lead me back into the light
My soul is cleansed by the gentle breeze
Venus rising in the night
Elysium
Singing in the garden of Eden
Reach up and touch the sky
Listen to the Angels Sing
Look up and see the birds fly
This is the end of the road
You’re wet. Come in from the rain
Sit and think, quiet contemplation
No two clouds ever look the same
I will break the chains that bind me
I’ve been freed of all my hardships
It’s a euphoric experience
Like a kiss from an angel’s lips
The sun falls through the horizon
The hypnotic rhythm of the rain
Full moon rising in the mist
Nature’s beauty eases my pain
From their home in Elysium
Fallen souls watch over me
Valhalla gets closer every day
The Gods smile upon me
I am the Saviour
Look at me, I am the Saviour
How do you like what you see?
I have been through hell and back
Damn all those who disagree
Fear me, I am the Saviour
Say your hallelujahs in the night
Say your prayers and count your blessings
Bow down before me, do not fight
Respect me, I am the Saviour
Fear my power or die
Do not question my righteousness
I am pure, I do not lie
Adore me, I am the Saviour
I rule with an iron fist
You will not disobey me
It is futile to resist
Love me, I am the Saviour
I am a eternal. You may cry
Saviour, Hell, or sleep in the dirt
I am your best option when you die
Brutal Winter
The brutal winter is without mercy
Flesh and bone will freeze and die
Can’t dig my grave, the ground has froze
Freeze to death in the blink of an eye
The sun is blistering my
