About this ebook
way·ward
ˈwāwərd
(adjective)
difficult to control or predict because of unusual behavior.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be a mermaid and an astronaut. So, I became both- neither at war with the other, despite being at two extremes.
What does this have to do with poetry? Everything.
Within these pages, you'll find poems that strain both sides of consciousness- words that aren't afraid to be their truth, especially in the moment they were written in. Sometimes, they're in harmony. Other times, their only harmony is found in chaos.
That's what it's like, being wayward.
In Melody Klink's debut poetry chapbook, she shares many facets of her own life, from dealing with Anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, to being a mother; from yearning to be her true self, to reveling in nature– sometimes, all at once. Offered as a random collection of consciousness, WAYWARD is a thoughtful, and often heart-wrenching, look at what it is to breathe in our everyday, modern life.
Melody Klink
While pretending to be a human, Melody Klink likes to write down words. Lots and lots of them. All to gain the admiration and trust of the human masses. Wait. I mean… Melody Klink is a lovable little scamp with a sweet tooth for all things coffee. When she's not collecting superstitions about the American South, she can be found scribbling out stories on just about anything, which explains her odd assortment of used napkins, pictures of skin, and copious number of notebooks. While her first foray into publishing was Bad Mood Boogaloo, a picture book for toddlers, she also enjoys writing novels, and has several titles in the works. Her debut novel, Godeater: The Second World, released on February 29th, 2016. She currently resides in the Mid-South with her husband, daughters, and one annoying cat.

Muses and Fighter Jets
SOMETIMES I THINK
surely
my muses are pilots
trying to co-direct three fighter jets
All errant on wind and discourse
Their turbulence my ever-soaring worry
Their low fuel gauge my obsessiveness
Through their headsets they murmur
We might not make it through this one.
They soar, one more ‘gain
before the freefall.
