Romain Puértolas has lived in France, Spain and England and speaks multiple languages. He has had a very varied career to date: he has worked as a DJ, language teacher, translator and interpreter, as well as hosting a YouTube series dedicated to revealing magicians’ secrets. However, writing has always been his greatest passion, and he seizes any opportunity to write.
Puértolas is a prolific writer, although a number of his novels have not yet been published. When his first published novel, The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir Who Got Trapped in an Ikea Wardrobe, was released in 2013, he was still working as a police officer, but the success of his book inspired him to give up his job and concentrate on writing full-time.
