Ayobolu includes a variety of scriptural references that address many challenging questions of life for which humanity has been trying to find answers to since the beginning of time.
Who am I? Where did I come from? Did God really create us, or are we a product of a carefully organized explosion called the big bangor the product of evolution? How do we find the convergence between God and the knowledge of science?
Discover how you can acquire a better understanding of yourself and the world you live in and how you can make success of your life while you are still conscious of your existence.

In these strange times, we need to decide how to come out of these challenges. In His infinite wisdom, God has given us a blank cheque and a golden pen that we can use to access His infinite treasury; we have the ability to fill it in as we wish because we are running out of intelligence and resources. Dedication

…to you; my mum for believing so much in me.

    You’re my friend

    When everything came crumbling

Deeply inside I knew I was down sinking

I cried out loud but no one came helping

‘looked behind and saw your hands forth stretching.

You held me up when they turned their back

You dried my tears when they scourged me

You gave me courage to stand the winds

And made me wings to soar the sky

I’ll show the world you’re my friend

I give my words and swear you a promise

If I could ever make it so high into the blue

I will always be your star shinning so bright.

    Prologue

One prophetic declaration which has been hovering over the church for quite a while centres on God’s caring intentions to ‘transfer’ His hidden treasures to His faithful expectant children.

While we endlessly wait in hope that those treasures would soon arrive, our planet suddenly whirled off its axis into a very bad weather condition, characterized by a terrible financial tsunami.

This has been threatening the stability of our great nations, causing global economic crunches of multibillion-dollar corporations and exceptionally high inflation rates. Along with financial despair, people have witnessed the devastating impact of poverty and an outbreak of war, life-threatening diseases and natural disasters of various kinds and magnitudes shaking the very foundations of our families and penetrating through the comfort of our well-secured homes.

Thousands of people have since become jobless, joyless and left their places of livelihood with a mountain of debts - staring at them, even while they sleep. Some of our sweet dreams have been turned into scary nightmares, making us cover our faces in shame, as embarrassing moments bathe us every day.

Yesterday’s financial giants are fast becoming bankrupt overnight; high reputable corporations that were once overflowing in billions of funds are suddenly collapsing and folding up without forewarning; highly respected landlords and property owners are gradually losing their homes and properties and are being thrown out into the streets.

Families and societies that were once stable are all losing their healthcare facilities, their sources of joy and highly treasured comforts. Some, who were unable to withstand the shock and the aftermath of the storm quickly considered suicide as the best option; desperately pulling the plugs as soon as they found themselves in the dreaded pits of despair.

We have tried to ask our most honoured and highly respected financial advisers and analysts but they all seem to be running out of their book-knowledge and extraordinary human intelligence. Nobody knows what to do and exactly where we started getting it all wrong.

Could it be that the storm was purposely designed by the Architect to harbinger the long awaited calm or for how long are we supposed to cope with these unfriendly weather conditions?

It was in the middle of this strange weather that I decided to ask the Architect for what to do next, in order to come out of these tough times which we are all passing through. All I was able to grab, stretching forth from His right-hand, is the Blank Cheque into His infinite treasury and a golden-pen attached to it; to write whatever we wish on it because we seem to be running out of our intelligence and resources and we do not really know exactly what to do next, right here on the earth.

    Where do we start from?

I used to have a very strict but exceptionally brilliant mathematics teacher who is so intelligent that he never opened a notepad in class during his lectures. He also took the time to write all his lecture notes on the board with his exceptional handwriting. We decided to nickname him ‘Cardinality’ because he was taking us ‘Set Theory’ to start with. Everybody feared and respected him because he could teach a dullard to the point where his brain would be reborn.

On this particular day, he had taught us for about one hour twenty five minutes out of the one and a half hour lecture, and he decided to spend the remaining 5 minutes to do a quick revision of all he had been teaching since the beginning of the class before leaving for the day.

When he faced the class to ask questions, he sighted a female student who had spent the entire period of the lecture busy gossiping with her friends and he asked her if she understood all he had been teaching since ‘morning’, but the girl replied, ‘no.’

Instead of him getting angry, he was kind enough to ask her precisely where she got confused so that he could explain the part to her and my ‘intelligent’ classmate said: Exactly from the beginning!

I would rather leave the ending part of the story to your imaginations to explore.

So I would like to start explaining the whole story exactly from the beginning. Please pardon me if you notice that I am insulting your intelligence; I need to, for the sake of some people that might be just as brilliant as my classmate who expected our teacher to repeat the entire one and a half hour lecture from the beginning and finish it within 5 minutes.

Now before we start the engine to take off, you might want to fasten your seatbelts because the ride might just get a bit bumpy! I hope you find the book informative, educative and entertaining. Do enjoy the journey as we pedal together.

    WHAT WOULD YOU RATHER WRITE?

For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater; So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the things for which I sent it.1

Imagine you were given the opportunity to choose between owning a golden cup and a wooden cup for your personal use, which one would you rather choose?

Before you can make the appropriate decision, there are so many factors you might want to put into consideration, to know the one that would be more appropriate and beneficial to you.

Factors like: who you are, what you really want to use the cup for (either for domestic use in your farm or for ceremonial use in the palace; among the kings and the nobles). You might want to consider other factors like: what you are willing to sacrifice to get it, how you are planning to handle and preserve it, the amount of time you can afford to wait before you finally have your desired cup if they are both still in the raw form and needed to be processed before you can make proper use of them, and so on.

We all know that it would not take the same amount of time, energy, determination and other resources to carve a wooden cup as compared to what it would take to mould a lump of raw gold.

There are two major categories of men that are expecting God’s abundance in their lives: the Sower or manufacturer and the Eater or consumer.

The rain that brings the spiritual substance and energy that would activate the material nutrients, which are necessary for the seeds to grow; expectations within the hearts of one man to be met, is not different from the shower that would bake the bread within the heart of the other.

God’s responsibility in your life is to send forth His Word as ‘Rain and Snow’ upon the earth at certain seasons or periods of time to give life to whatever you are sowing within the vast vegetation of your mind.

The responsibility of the earth is to activate and give life to your seeds and also transform ‘the rain and the snow’ from heaven into what is necessary to yield the increase according to what you are sowing into it.

It is now left for a man to decide who he is and what category of men he falls into - sowers or eaters.

The Creator of the spiritual and the physical universe has given each and every man that has come to full consciousness of the essence of their existence a blank cheque into the infinite treasury of His Kingdom.

What you are writing on your cheque are your dreams, desires and aspirations: the types that you strongly believe would definitely come true.

Assuming you are very conscious of this information before you start any major project or journey in life, how would you handle it and what would be your expectations on the long run?

We are all faced with different challenges and decisions on a regular basis in our quest in life, and the choices we end up making go a long way in determining what we get in the end.

Two intimate childhood friends, who grew up and had all their life exposures on the farm, both gained admission into the same university to study the same course in the city.

They were both very intelligent, competing in class for the first position during their high school days and nothing seemed strong enough to come between them, because they usually did everything together.

Before they left the village, each one of them wrote down what he would like to become in the future, after leaving school, and showed it to the other and they both laughed about it and kept it as secrets between each other.

Several years later after graduation, one had been able to secure a very good position in a reputable corporation while the other had been able to build a fast growing business, which employed hundreds of skilled and unskilled workers within the same business field and geographical location.

Even though so many things had changed between them, they were still very much together because distance and workplace could not keep them apart. They both worked in the same company; one as the employer, and the other as his employee, and they were still as intimate and comfortable with each other as ever.

One day, while they were relaxing and reminiscing on good old days together, they both realised that they had actually achieved what they individually set their minds to attain before leaving the village.

If we assume that they were both equally privileged and every other factor remained constant throughout their years of seeking the path, I want to believe that the magnitude of their dreams and determination to achieve them were very much different.

If you get to realize that life is a blank cheque and you are convinced it would not bounce, no matter what you write on it, what amount would you write on the cheque?

To illustrate this in clearer view, imagine you are an undergraduate who has just gained admission into one of the best universities in the world to study Chemical Engineering for a period of five years. If you are conscious of the cheque during your matriculation ceremony, what would you like to become in the future?

Is it to be employed as an engineer in one of the best oil companies and climb the corporate ladder of promotion till you become old and retire at 65, or to start up a company that would later grow to become one of the most successful corporations in the country, through which you can pass fortune and intelligence to your children and your children’s children.

These are two different paths, which demand two different styles of preparation and seriousness within your consciousness.

For someone that wants to build a company after school:

    • He does not have to wait for the class to fully start before he dives into intelligent research on his own and starts gathering all forms of information to aid him in his quest – a self starter.

    • He does not need any one to remind him to read his books while others are fast-asleep or having fun in nightclubs. He pays keen attention in the class while the lecture is on. His intensity of concentration during lectures would definitely be higher than most of his classmates.

    • He does not have to device the technique of ‘cram-to-pass’ but would rather struggle to understand the courses taken because he knows that he cannot afford to deceive himself on the long run.

    • After graduation, if he is fortunate enough to get employed in an organised establishment to start with, he knows that his primary objective of being there is to learn the trade from the masters, so that he can have a better understanding of how it works in the real world and a jumpstart in his chosen career.

    • He does not have to feel like he has finally ‘arrived’ his destination and thus would make proper use of every opportunity he has to learn, as much as he could, before launching out to start his company when the opportunities present themselves.

    • He would rather prefer to manage his resources prudently and save for the sunny days than waste his income on luxuries to start with (which could wait till later years when he already has enough to spare).

During our undergraduate days, as we were all studying together to make good honours, while some of us were busy doing the normal cram-to-pass techniques and undertaking professional classes on how to write exceptional CVs, other intelligent students were busy combining some special professional courses in their fields of choices with their normal school curriculum.

They were already packaging brilliant proposals to corporations that needed their expertise and were already bagging very attractive contracts: same school, same exposures, but different mindsets and personalities!

What serves as bread to a particular man also serves as seeds to the other. What one man sees as a plentiful harvest (bread) is to the other plentiful seeds. Who you are and the perspective from which you view life is based on the understanding of your personality and your private relationship with your Creator. This in turn is directly related to the qualitative knowledge of God that resides in you and what you are capable of doing with its understanding.

Some people eat their seeds in an attempt to impress their friends or intimidate their foes, lavish the little they are supposed to re-invest in-order to realise a better harvest.

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.²

The height that you would reach in life depends on the passion that drives you within, how hard you can discipline and deny yourself of some temporary pleasures and your personal definition of the word ‘fulfilment.’

If what drives you is love, a passion to assist humanity solve their problems rather than some selfish interests, then you will enjoy the full support of the ‘Supreme-Intelligence’ in fulfilling your dreams and aspirations, because Love is the greatest and strongest force in existence.

And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.³

Our God is not used to dealing with people of little faith, who only wait on Him for crumbs instead of manna.

Some people only work for what they could grab and consume while others work for what they could acquire and give.

…let him labour, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.⁴

The scriptures confirm that there are two major categories of men: the noble and the ordinary.

Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men.

‘Unknown men’ refers to obscure and insignificant people- the crowd. A man has to decide and choose the category he falls into and embrace his choice of destiny with all his might.

When a diligent man stands before kings, if he is not a comedian who is trying to crack some jokes to amuse them, then he must either be proposing a brilliant idea to them or helping them interpret their dreams.

While some people are dreaming and working towards building multi-billion dollar corporations, others are only interested in flimsy pleasures and are scrambling over crumbs like paid jobs, cars and rented apartments in which to lay their heads.

Some people are only interested in the fast route to enjoyment, and thus pray to God to send someone into their lives that would give them all they ever dreamt of, instead of asking for an inspired thought that would automatically bless the works of their hands. Such a request if granted, enables them afford whatever they wanted or better still, leads them into starting a company that produces such things. Is that too much for someone to ask or too much for the Creator to grant?

Instead of disturbing Him to help you pay your rents, why not concentrate on Him making you a landlord? Instead of getting angry that your fellow man could not provide you a paid job or failed to promote you or just sacked you, why not ask Him to grant you a vibrant idea that would make you an employer of labour?

Abram was expecting a single child but God told him ‘a father of many nations have I made thee.’

Most of the time, we try to impose our basic needs and expectations on God without giving thoughts to expanding our minds and asking for His opinion on the challenges we face in our lives. His Will supersedes our imagination a million folds, if only we would allow Him to have the final say in whatever we do.

If you are always asking for crumbs to meet your immediate needs, especially when the reason that drives you is too shallow (to impress your friends and oppress your foes), you are not different from young children that ask their parents to bring them confectioneries and toys on their way home from their offices.

It might interest you to know that the size of our ‘magnificent’ Earth is like a speck of dust in a large stadium when compared to the size of the ever-growing physical universe.

Researchers told us that we have about 400 billion stars in our galaxy (Milky Way), among other planetary bodies and more than 100 billion galaxies in our expanding universe⁶ and I believe that the smallest star is far bigger than the Earth.

This is to tell us that there are more than enough space and resources to fuel every man’s dream in the physical universe. Even if we all desire to own and rule over a planet each, there would still be more than enough of them remaining.

I believe as our desires grow with time and if for any reason we ever exhaust our more-than-enough resources we have here on the earth, everything could be replenished within a night or we would also have grown in wisdom and intelligence to explore the store houses in other planets in the physical universe.

So if a man ever thinks that the resources available on the earth would not be enough to fuel his own dreams probably because some greedy guys have taken the lion’s share, all he needs to do is to find a way of relocating to one of the other billions of galaxies that would definitely contain a planet.

At least the scriptures did not record that our earth is the only planet in existence that supports life in the natural universe:

For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth…

He created all of them and He is not restricting you from asking for too much. Or has God ever complained to anyone that He is running out of resources to fuel man’s dreams?

When Christ said, for what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul...,⁸ what could be inferred from the question is that it is very much possible for a man to be so highly productive in this life to the extent of gaining a whole world (planet). This is not covetousness or a sinful act; provided a man does not associate with the devil and his vices in the process of achieving his plans and aspirations.

The soul of a man is far more precious in the sight of his Creator than all the whole lifeless planets and stars in the physical universe and all the treasures they might contain. Therefore God does not expect any one of us to trade his or her soul (good conscience) for anything whatsoever in this life or the next.

Put up with Good or strive for the Best

God realized that Adam needed a helpmate and so He started by bringing all the various beautifully and wonderfully created species of animals in the Garden of Eden to him.

Adam knew exactly what he wanted but couldn’t find her among all the good-looking creatures presented to him.

He was presented with dogs, cats, gorillas, monkeys, donkeys, bears, unicorns… and he chose ‘None of the above’ out of all the options, contrary to what most of us would have done if we were in his shoes.

And the Lord God said, It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him. Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them…But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him…"

Instead of settling down for what he could see, he chose to name every one of them what they were supposed to be called according to what they looked like and God noticed that he did not mistakenly call anyone of them a Woman.

God knew exactly what Adam needed but He needed to be sure if Adam himself knew what he wanted.

When the Creator was convinced that Adam would not settle for what he could only see, He made a very deep sleep fall on him, searched and reached deep into his innermost being (the intimate part of his makeup), where all his secret desires and emotions are securely guarded within his soul and so He helped him in creating the exact picture he had conceived inside.

He chose to wait on the Lord; to produce exactly what he wanted and also in the precise and presentable form he wanted it.

There is a popular saying, when the desirable is not available, then the available automatically becomes the desirable.

Most times in life, we are first presented with good, very good and exceptionally good options and we suddenly realize that what we actually wanted deeply inside are not listed as part of the options presented. So what do most of us do? We settle for what we could see and later find ourselves in the position of envying others that actually knew what they wanted and sacrificed all to focus and waited persistently before finally getting it.

Even though he was unable to define in precise terms what he wanted because he had never seen her before then, Adam was convinced that nothing outside could either be comparable to her or be chosen as a substitute for her. Consequently he waited on the Lord to reach deep within and help him create the image he had inside his soul.

God had to put him into a deep sleep which signifies a state of absolute rest and trust; a waiting period of total inactivity during which the creative work was in progress.

By the time he woke up, the beautiful package had already arrived and she looked exactly like the image he had inside, and without mincing words, he called her Woman.

This is now the bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman because she was taken out of Man.¹⁰
