Dedication to My Father
This fairy tale is dedicated to my father Pantelis Tsahiridis. My father told this story to me many many times between the ages of eight to fifteen. His Father Michael
had told it to him and his Grand Father Savvas who lived to be one-hundred and twenty-nine years of age had told it to his Father. My father’s Grand Father
Savvas" was an educated man and he was also a musician. He played the Kementzen (Lyra) a Pontian instrument. He lived near the Black Sea Euxinos Pontos.
Pontos in ancient Greek means Sea and Euxinos means Friendly. Pontos was a City State of Greece, like Rhodes, Sparta and Macedonia for example. This country of long ago named Pontos was the name of the Northeastern Province
