DEDICATION:
This storybook is dedicated to all the theatre kids that I have directed when they performed in Cinderella
on the stage.
THANK YOU:
Special thanks and love to my husband Hardy Pope and my daughter Cassie Conner for all their patience, encouragement, understanding and support.
Dear Diary
My name is Ella but everyone calls me Cinderella. My stepmother named me that because I sometimes sit by the cinders in the fireplace. It wasn’t always like this. I have a faint memory of a time when I was just a very little girl, and I was with my mother and father. I was having so much fun that day riding in a pony cart. We were all very happy. Something happened back then, I don’t know what it was but now I live with my stepmother and my stepsisters Hattie, Hortense and Cleomartine.
I am sitting by the fireplace as I write this. My Stepmother and stepsisters have gone shopping but Stepmother said that I had to stay home and make the beds, wash the dishes, sweep the floors, and dust the furniture.
I’ve finally finished all my chores so now I can really enjoy this time writing in my diary. The minute everyone leaves, my feathered and furry friends come out to keep me company. My pet mice Snip and Snap are sleeping on my dust cloth. Sweetie Bird is sitting on the windowsill singing a song and Cookie my calico cat is sleeping next to me. Sometimes we have a party and everyone sings and dances. Well, everyone except Cookie; she just keeps time by tapping her tail.

Cinderella hurriedly closed her diary and put it in her apron pocket.
Snip and Snap were so startled that they jumped ten inches into the air and then scurried into their mouse hole. Sweetie Bird flew out of the window and Cookie scampered into the pantry.
Cinderella rushed to open the door and Stepmother and the three stepsisters came bustling in shouting orders.
Cinderella, carry my packages to my room.
