For the past 50 years a local fellow by the name of Gale Pike has owned and operated restaurants in the beautiful village of Laguna Beach. This is his story as we take a tour of his recollections down Pacific Coast Highway through bars, restaurants and saloons and throw in a mélange of tall tales and some tasty recipes.
Gale began his career in the public eye in the wayside community of Baker, California; a roadside stop on the way from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. In 1943 his parents bought a small café there in Baker with 35 seats and three gas pumps. It was there that Gale began to flip hamburgers and fry eggs.
