Andrew Hess, New York’s King of Cliffhangers, found his love of writing while studying psychology at SUNY New Paltz. His debut book, Chamber of Souls (2011), depicted the life of a broken man wallowing in self pity. Using free verse poetry, he brought his character to life while journeying to find himself. Hess picked up his first cliffhanger credit in 2013 with The Phoenix Blade Series (winner of Best Series Award in 2014 by Indie Author Books). The Phoenix Blade showcased a group of vigilante 20 year olds hired by the government to rid the country of the men and women who have evaded justice. Hess continued his route down the path of mystery and suspense with the Detective Ryan Series, the Detective Thornton Series, and #1 Fan, which earned him the moniker King of Cliffhangers by several readers including the Fire & Ice Book Reviews. Andrew won Indie Author Books: Best Mystery Thriller Author (2015), and Indie Author Books Series of the Year (2014) for The Phoenix Blade. Welcome to the pit of despair.

A journey you will not soon forget;

A montage of twisted thoughts;

The remnants of the price for passion.

Walk through the bloody waters;

There is nothing more to hide;

I’ll give you one graceful landing;

But be warned;

Not many wish to continue.

Enter the dark tunnel;

Listen to the screams that haunt it.

Turn back now,

You’ll be trapped like the rest.

Proceed to the prisoner dorms;

There you’ll find the key to your survival;

Amongst the hopeless, begging to escape;

Lives the one with that which you seek.

The window to escape is closing;

Will you be trapped?

Or find the one who grants your departure?

There’s only one chance to flee.

Déjà Vu consumes the brain;

The bloody waters return;

Know what’s real;

And accept your fate.

A new adventure begins.

One filled with incredible experiences.

Beginning at the base of a cliff;

A chance to make it to the top.

Two hours spent with my hand in yours.

Being next to you was all the motivation needed.

It pushed us to our limits;

Exceeding expectations.

The next level was reached.

No longer did we travel uphill;

Amongst the blossoming flowers;

But a new challenge arose.

We embraced the thrill.

Climbing the rigid rocks;

Squeezing through narrow spaces;

Finally reaching our destination.

Nothing stopped us.

Our hearts raced with anticipation.
