More Than a Servant: The Touching Point of God
()
About this ebook
A brief excerpt from More Than a Servant Chapter Five (Planting vs. Performing) pg. 59
We have been armed with the information that all will not accept our faith. This is not an open invitation to not sow, but a piece of wisdom to guard your heart. Whenever seed has been sown, we cannot place our expectation as a measuring rod to gauge our future performance. We must look for the revelation in what is uncovered in our sowing. The quality of the soil will be exposed based on our sowing, yet a decrease in performance should never be the result of Gods revelation process. Revelation is purposed to bring you into a position to manifest Gods glory, not to put a device in your heart the will limit your potential to be great in your career, profession, or current assignment.
More Than a Servant is an easy read that is readily applicable to the working Christian. A revolutionary guide to operating as a true servant of God while working in the wilderness of todays world.

About The Author
Foreword
MANY AUTHORS SEEK TO GIVE you an existential view of leadership. This is because most employees, as well as potential supervisors and managers wanting to move into positions of leadership, want to know catchphrases, time-tested paradigms, and methods that will ensure they are successful on the job. God’s people must understand that God is the actual employer and that, in order to be truly successful on the job, they have to employ God’s principles in doing their jobs. An employer generally wants his or her employees to succeed in what they do. When this is not the case (adversity on the job, ulterior motives of the supervisor to subvert the success of a subordinate, etc.), then the employees must know that God is still there and will see them through.
Being a Christian on any job is not a license to do less under grace, but to excel because of it.
This book contains examples of godly leadership and how people overcame adversity after being chosen to lead. It also talks about how being a leader means taking the sweet and the bittersweet of any profession and using it as a springboard to forward thinking, idea creation, and change management—in themselves! If you want to lead, change your viewpoint of the situation from one being in the valley (myopic, linear thinking) to one of being on the mountaintop (broad, expansive, and inclusive of all aspects of the situation).
If you want to lead, then lead from where you are. This book will open your mind to how God’s expectation of leadership is far more encompassing than your current success or adverse situation.
In reading this book, you will discover God expects you to function in today’s workplace arena, and He will show you how He has a purpose, plan, and practical premise for ultimate success concerning how you, as one of God’s leaders, are to function in today’s work place.
Franklin Caldwell
Police lieutenant and educator
Acknowledgments
I wrote a majority of this book in a difficult time in my professional life. Without my God and my family, I no doubt would have drowned in the waters of my circumstances. I have been blessed with a wonderful team of friends and family that have continually encouraged me to be the best I can be, and I am truly grateful for their activity in my life. Through the ups and downs, the promotions and demotions, the feelings of elation and deflation, you all have always been there. I would like to thank my wife, Monique Rivers, for her unfailing support, counsel, and love over the years. My children Mia, Domonique, and Darryl Jr. who have made me desire to set the example. And I thank my PowerHouse Worship Center family for all your prayers and support concerning my life. Also, I would like to thank the various individuals I have had the honor to work with throughout my career. They have provided me with the most developmental experience anyone could ever ask for!
To my good friends Frank J. Caldwell, John Singleton, Erik Edmisten, and James Weege, you have all shown a genuine interest in my professional success. You guys have no idea how much it means to have people such as you as an ear to my words and encouragement to my resolve. Thank you!
In all, God gets the glory!
Introduction
You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our hearts, to be known and read by all. And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
1 Corinthians 3:2–3 ESV
YOUR ACTIONS SPEAK SO LOUDLY that I cannot hear what you say
(Ralph Waldo Emerson). This is one of my favorite quotes that hold true in today’s world. Everyone who truly experiences your presence for an extended period of time may have this quote in his or her mind about you. Just as you have the same of those you interact with. We are normally not as mindful of this reality as we should be. When it comes to the reading of one’s life by attitude, character, and actions, very few are illiterate to this type of communication. We as a people, simply striving to be better tomorrow than we were yesterday, should be mindful that our character needs to line up with our claim. Especially those who are within the household of faith, whether this occurs in a ministerial setting, fellowship, or any other events. When encountering those who may
