Why Settle?: A Relationship with God Through the Sands of Time
()
About this ebook
Every page has a Bible verse, along with a devotional and experiences that I have encountered in my relationship with God. Trusting God; seeking his approval, rather than everyone elses; and realizing that God gives us all the help that we could ever need are all part of completing this assignment here on earth. Learning to take responsibility for our mistakes and using them as future lessons and tools to help teach others are what this book of devotionals is all about. The experiences that we go through in life are part of what make us the people that we are. Our reactions to what happens to us teach us that we do not have to settle for anything less than what God wants for us. Every one of us goes through sorrows in life, along with the feelings of being all alone and needing to find a solution. You may very well find where to look for your solution in this book of devotionals.

Nothing incredible is accomplished alone. With that being said, I would like to list two people who were the most influential in helping me get where I needed to be in life to have this book published.
I want to thank my dear friends Jerry Walden and Victoria Gaskins for all the life lessons you have helped me learn. Thanks for reminding me to keep faith above all and to continue to believe in myself and my capabilities. Without you, this book would not have become a reality.
I also would like to thank my friend Sara Randazzo for helping me get my thoughts and notes into something that actually resembled a document that could be published.
Last but not least I want to thank my wonderful husband and daughter for being so loving and patient throughout this process.
This book of devotionals has been inspired by my relationship with God through the sands of time.
Introduction
Why Settle?
That is the million-dollar question, and it has approximately a million different answers. Some say it is just easier to go along,
which is probably how the majority of people answer that question. Most settle for the path of least resistance, and some use the excuse that they cannot succeed or accomplish things because they are afraid they may actually succeed (fear of failure). Does that make sense?
Let us take a look at a few of the answers to that million-dollar question.
Fulfilling Your Potential
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
—Philippians 4:13 (New International Version)
In my experience, to succeed at something you must repeatedly try, fail, and try again. The ultimate key to being successful is to do your part and ask God to help you with what you do not have any control over. My question is, do people just settle because they do not want to put forth the effort? Or is it because people do not seek their potential in life?
Many people settle because they believe that if they do succeed, it may lead to higher expectations. Or do people settle because they believe they do not have potential or the power to make something happen? Only you can be the judge of your own potential. I know many of us are not fully engaging ourselves. Destiny is not a matter of chance; it’s a matter of choice.
Let’s take a look at a little bit of history of the expectation process. If you think about it, there have been expectations from the very beginning. God created Adam and Eve and gave
