About this ebook

This is a series of poems that represents the strokes of life of an individual struggling to stay on a road to success. There are many instances where the writer shows the dichotomic struggle between thoughts and actions, or belief and works. The author keeps away from dwelling on negativity, but rather uses each hardship as an opportunity to teach a lifes lesson. The book is partitioned into three parts, in order to better demonstrate the turbulent yet constant progression existing in life that can inevitably result in a persons greatest achievements.

    Dedication

This book is dedicated to my aunt, Gabrielle Anne Enide Piaubert. She had been my angel in disguise. I would not be who I am today if it were not for her love, devotion and blessing. I also want to give honor to my mother and father who had always tried to do the best for me in every way that they could. This is also for all the young people in my life that I have ever interacted with, especially those from the summer program my aunt and I founded—The Talented Tenth

    Foreword

While there are those who have learned the secrets of staying afloat in the turbulent seas of life, there are many people who are struggling to keep their head above water. It is only by the grace of God that anyone makes it to shore to tell their tale. Those who are able to overcome debilitating trails will admit that they would not have made it had it not been for some guiding force that became their strength when they were weak. These same people will also admit that they are not accomplished even as they have reached some peak of an aspired goal because life is forever a progressive struggle. I believe the series of poems written here illustrate this fact.

Anyone may have experienced some circumstance of what I have presented in these poems. Wherefore, there are many types of characters portrayed in any one of these poems. There are those who start off naive making many mistakes, while there are a few who learn from the mistakes of others, and decide early that they will choose to do differently even if it hurts.
