dedication page.jpgDedicated to JT my sister in Christ
When my back is up against the wall, I think about you and what you have been through. And once again, I am reminded our Father in heaven will never allow more on us than he knows we can bear. To God be the glory!
Your sister in Christ
Acknowledgments
First and foremost, I give to Yahweh (God) all honor and glory for all he has done and continues to do for me. I thank God for all the many blessings in my life. This book of works, To God be The Glory (TGbTG), was inspired by the poem of the same name. I remember that day watching my husband, Vance, potting some beautiful yellow lilies outdoors. As the wind gently caught the lilies up in a whirlwind-sought-of dance, I marveled at the swiftness of the lilies’ response. With such breathtaking movements, the yellow lilies appeared to accept the dance from the light gentle wind. What a truly glorious moment to witness Yahweh/God in all his glory! Thank you to all who gave their expertise and time to complete this project. Thank you to all that prayed and stayed in truth. A special thanks to the Baltimore Songwriters Association (BSA) for all the support and networking. Thanks also to Ms. E. Houston for the early years, Mr. L. Addison for the musical connection, Mr. W. Allen for your dedication, Ms. O. Wilson for teaching me the art of haiku and to my grand-baby Denesha for showing me that abstract painting is quite different from finger painting.

General and Society Poems

Two together is better than one
One home all alone
No one to belong
Old relations outgrown
New relations unknown
Come to gather as one
It is better that way

3 Minutes
He said he only had 3 minutes
Won’t be able to give a 2 minute warning
Not in a New York minute
Just 180 seconds
180 blinks
To hold me
To kiss me
To love me
3 minutes he had
To give me happiness in togetherness
In just 3 minutes
This poem was inspired by the ride with my husband early one morning.
4th Down
Sitting there watching them
Watching him
Watch the light
What a sight
What a fright
Must be mystified by the light
Makes me want a fight
Me being fourth down at the light
And I’m the one to honk
A Crying Shame
A disgrace
It’s a crying shame
The lying game
A crying shame
Won’t call any names
Can’t place any blame
For names came to the lying game
It’s a crying shame
If you lie, you are a cheat
You can’t be trusted
You’re busted
You liar, you cheat
It’s a crying shame
If you lie, you are a thief
You steal in your time at your will
You liar, you thief
It’s a crying shame
Believe
Bent your intent
To deceive
It’s a crying shame
The lying game
A crying shame
A Finished Product
Ready to be shipped
To whom it may concern
Life comes at you hard and fast
Testing and asking were you made to last
Striving to accomplish the astronomical task
For in the end this too is past
When I’m finished, I’m finished
For being finished the task is the victory
Follow the history of man
A finished product
A Jailbird
Why is it called a jailbird?
When I think about wings, I think about flight
I think about freedom soaring high
A jailbird is confined
A jailbird is caged
A jailbird can only flutter
The confined space permits no more
Maybe that is why
Perhaps because you no longer have a choice
And when the freedom to choose is lost
You are no longer free
A jailbird
How sad is that
A Legacy from 3 Sisters
3 sisters, all grandmothers, such joy
3 sweet little girls and
3 snake-in-the-pocket little boys

1 has 1
