John O’Rourke
John O’Rourke was born in Glasgow in 1961. He was educated at St. Patrick’s College, Cavan and St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth. Ordained a Catholic priest in 1986, when his fi rst poems were written, he spent ten years at Cavan Cathedral and four years as a volunteer missionary in Lagos, Nigeria. Having resigned from public ministry in 2000 John has combined writing poetry along with work with the Department of Justice, VMM, an NGO, teaching part-time at Patrician College, Finglas and adult literacy with Louth VEC. Now the director of Drogheda Creative Writers group, he has just completed his fourth volume of poems.
