    Apologies

    The word sorry has lost

    it's meaning.

    For I have been saying it,

    the only one to say it,

    entirely too often.

    Apologies,

    spoken often when

    I wasn't even sure what

    I had done wrong.

    Each one an eggshell

    cutting into my soul.

    Walking across them,

    crying as they sliced me.

    Only to end up grinding

    Out another apology.

    Why do you not have to say it?

    Why am I the only one working

    to hold us together?

    Is my pride your price?

    To remain at your side?

    I suppose that I am looking for

    something in you,

    in me that doesn't even exist.

    I was thinking that

    I was stronger

    with you beside me.

    Perhaps it would be better

    for you

    to be behind.

    So that you can watch me as

    I finally
