Conclusion
Introduction
Every hospital is equipped with a life-saving device called a heart monitor. This electronic equipment is used for the purpose of continual observation of the function of the heart.
Your doctor may request a screening to see if you have a slow, fast or irregular heartbeat. The results of wearing this monitor will help you and your doctor decide if you need more tests or another course of action. An Electrocardiogram (EKG) allows your doctor to look at your heart’s activity.
One major reason for the heart monitor is to evaluate if your heart is getting the adequate oxygen to meet its needs. The (EKG) is able to check for heart disease, blood flow and find abnormalities.
Just as our natural heart needs evaluation so does our spiritual heart. I pray that this book will empower you to discover the vital need to passionately pursue a heart that will be pleasing to Almighty God. Despite our efforts we must rely upon the Lord to show us our hearts the way He sees it.
We cannot cleanse ourselves; it takes the work of the redemptive blood of Jesus to purify the heart. This book will give you biblical insight as to how to examine the affairs of the heart in light of the scriptures. I pray that your heart will be changed as you embrace each chapter.
I will praise thee, O Lord,
with my whole heart;
I will shew forth all
thy marvellous works.

Day 1
The Fixed Heart
He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord. Psalms 112:7
During most summer months as small children we had the opportunity to visit with our grandparents in Florence, Alabama. I have the fondest and most beautiful memories as a child of learning how to swim at a local neighborhood swimming pool. After learning to swim I soon became totally and completely captivated with the notion of learning to dive from the high dive board. I was so determined! I remember being so eager to get on the diving board. It was as if every step up the ladder became magnified as I began my attempt at diving. Nothing was going to stop me.
After mounting the long diving board I remember thinking about how far the water looked from that perspective. I jumped on the board a little at first and then I found my footing and courage to jump a little higher and then in the water. My greatest joy after the dive was seeing my grandfather with his hands clasping the metal fence on the outside of the community pool, you can’t imagine the wonderful rejoicing I did, exclaiming, Granddaddy did you see me? I did it!
Even now I can still see his exuberant expression of excitement at my little accomplishment that day.
I thought of these moments as I begin to write about a fixed heart. A fixed heart is a description of the inward self. This is inclusive of our thoughts and intentions and affections of the heart. The psalmist states, My heart is fixed!
It means a settled determination. David had a fixed resolve to cleave to God and to love him.
David had a desire to sing and give praise to God. He knew that God loves the praise of his people. A fixed heart is descriptive of a heart that is
