Ayana spends the holiday weekend tipsy, feeling like she’s floating on cloud nine. She’s stretched out on the lawn at her friend Dion’s in Atlanta with a half-empty bottle of beer on her stomach, watching it slosh against the glass.

The Dion’s boys were tall and fit and Ayana can’t tell them apart anymore now that they’re grown up. If she’s not looking over at Dion, Manny or the cutest one, Jamal, she’s taunting the family dog with a Frisbee. Meanwhile, Dion’s flipping steaks, while his wife, Jayla, waits beside him holding a container. Manny and Jamal are inside playing PS4 while their girlfriends are sitting around grooving to Ludricus. The only one without a man happened to be Ayana.

Until someone lands next to her on the lawn, and Ayana looks. It’s Taye laying on his back, laughing, with his arms spread out.

Hi, Taye.

Hey, Yana.

Long time…What you doing here?

I just got in town. Have some business to take care for the company before heading back out.

Okay…

Ayana raises her bottle to her lips and Taye accidentally knocks it out of her hand causing it to splash on her face and down her shirt. Her nipples harden and Taye notices.

Sorry.

Ayana wipes her face with her sleeve. You’re a liar. You meant to do that. She play-hits Taye.

Taye looks at Ayana’s t-shirt. Really, I am.

Ayana slaps his hand. Now I smell like Heineken. Thanks.

Dion and Jayla see what going on and giggles.

It’s not funny, y’all, Ayana said.

Girl, you look like you belong on Baywatch. You need a shirt, girl? Jayla said.

I’m good. I’ll just go home and change.

Taye gets up and holds out his hand. "Sorry, Ayana. Let me get
