About this ebook

Sometimes, only a trip gone pear-shaped reveals whether a couple is meant to last.

Author

Olivette Devaux

Olivette Devaux focuses on writing stories of love, where adventure is always an element. Whether contemporary or paranormal, and regardless of sexual orientation, she likes to leave both her characters and her readers with a happy ending. Olivette writes thrillers and speculative fiction as Kate Pavelle, and YA science fiction and fantasy as K.S.Pavelle. She's hard to reach, because she believes her readers would rather read her books than her social media posts. If you ever need to bribe her, try either orange peel dipped in dark chocolate, or chardonnay.

Sean seethed as sweat poured down his face. His still-new wedding ring was digging into the webbing of his fingers as the canoe continued to press him farther downhill, pinning him against a young, leafless tree. At the outset of their trip, when Asbjorn had explained that they’d simply portage their small boat around the falls, it hadn’t sounded like such a big deal. Now they were a mere one-third of the way up the rocky hillside, forcing their way through thin saplings and sparse, barbed blackberry canes, and Sean was ready to let the fiberglass canoe slide down the hill, into the river, and back to civilization.

    This honeymoon sucks.

Let’s put ’er down, Asbjorn said. He pulled out his survival knife and used the saw on the back of it to cut through a three-inch tree in his way. Sean stood on the hill beneath him, his breath heavy, the boat held from sliding down the hill by his shins. Soon the thin trunk fell to the side and its leafless crown rustled as it scraped against its neighbors. Okay. Let’s try again.

It took them only two hours to paddle upriver and reach the falls; it took three to move the darn boat up the fifty-foot incline.

"Tiger’s cabin better be worth all this," Sean sniped to himself once they were afloat again. He knelt in the front of the
