Lines From A Face
I had met you in many disguises
There was a boy angling for shadows
My children of light
Eyes in a dream
Then how did you see the wind
When I write of you
Violence has always been your shadow
The sun, the winds, even the trees
I stood with the wind
The tree still stands
Which of your ways
The day you made me the gift
I saw your face
Some dust once said
Summer stepped into your skin
A future day will be kind
Lines From Earth
Life folded in the rocks
The smell of time
The long shadows melting
The rains of music
Light erodes a face I love
Your birds build sun-castles
Your ghost stands at the edge
I saw night through the dawn
Green music strewn on Earth
For miles I followed time
Folded in your airs the dreams come
I see finality in the rose
The sea again with you
The bird falling that day
The wind today carries me to you
Suddenly, autumn.
Their language whispers
When I met the spider
The weight of a bird's flight
The whole night shy
Fall mist has dissolved sun
There are skeletons in the nest
All your summer names
All summer shrunk.
