About this ebook

When love walks in

Emma enjoys helping patients at the medical clinic. Her work is her life. Quiet, a little shy, she's always thought romance was for other people - not her. Nothing prepares her for the day Sammy walks into the waiting room. He's ruggedly handsome, tall, and muscular.

Sammy might be the nicest fella she's ever met, but she won't date a patient. Even if he just came for a work physical, and even if the sweet, tender look in his eyes melts her heart.

Hang on tight to love

Sammy's work as a roughneck on an oil rig keeps him busy. Sure, he'd like a girl to call his own, but he hasn't found the right one. That all changes - at the doc's office!

The pretty little medical assistant steals his breath clean away. She might be a little shy and a little standoffish, but that won't stop him. For the first time, he's ready to give his heart to a girl. Forever.

He won't give up until she's wearing his ring.

The Some Kinda Wonderful series is all about insta-lasting-love that's safe and sweet. If you love a romantic comedy, short read, coffee break romance with a guaranteed happy ending, then this book was written just for you. Enjoy!

Some Kinda Wonderful - Sara Nicks

    Chapter One

    Emma

His muscles bulged under my hand. He smiled at me, flexing his biceps again.

If you don’t stop that, I won’t be able to take your blood pressure, I sighed. Sammy Johnson was wickedly handsome, and I knew he was teasing me.

    Okay, he said, relenting.

Just a minute here, Sammy. I’m almost finished, I reassured him. God, he was a gorgeous man!

We didn’t usually get patients that were young and good looking. Dr. Jones mostly saw older patients, like people who were my parents’ ages, in their 40s and 50s. Course, Dr. Jones was a general practitioner, so I also helped take care of pediatric patients, too.

Sammy Johnson was here for a pre-employment physical. He was flirting with me, cutting his eyes and winking, and oh man, that gorgeous smile of his already captured my imagination.

Our eyes met. I blushed, then swiftly pulled the cuff off of Sammy’s arm. Your blood pressure is great.

Well, that’s good because I was afraid it might be a little high, Sammy said as he pulled his shirt down over his arm. He shook his head and laughed at me.

Oh no, your blood pressure is great. It’s 110/75. That’s fantastic! I wrote down Sammy’s vitals in his chart. Dr. Jones still liked to do things the old way, so we entered everything by hand. Have you had a problem with high blood pressure in the past?

I wanted to be a total professional for this man. He was getting under my skin, but I had to keep my professional distance, no matter how cute and sexy he was.

Darlin’, my blood pressure is fine. Unless I’m in the presence of a beautiful woman, he cooed.

I blushed again, this time from head to toe. I froze, not knowing what to say or do.

Sammy pulled me out of my daze when he touched my arm. Want to take my temperature now?

Oh yes, I said as I clumsily reached for the thermometer and its sleeve. Here you go. I shoved the thermometer into his mouth, hoping it would keep him quiet while I composed myself.

Sammy’s lips wrapped around the thermometer, and he kept them pursed while I took his temperature. He was adorable!

Why did I have to meet him here? Why couldn’t I have met him somewhere out in the world, like the dog park or grocery store?

I didn’t date much at all, and I hadn’t had a real boyfriend since I was in high school. Was I total wallflower? Not really, but meeting men was hard for me.

The irony was that there was a perfectly good man in front of me - and I couldn’t do a thing about it.

Oh, well. Such was my luck.

We’re done here now, I smiled. Dr. Jones will be in to see you shortly. I gathered Sammy’s chart and walked out of the room as quickly as I could.

D id you see that gorgeous man? Karen whispered way too loudly. Her eyes were bright, and I knew she was up to something.

Did I see him? You mean Sammy Johnson? My face turned red again.

Oh, I see what’s up. You play it like you’re just a mousy girl, but you noticed him! she giggled.

Stop, Karen! I whispered, looking up and down the hallway.

What are you afraid of, Emma? That we’ll think you’re a human being? Karen teased, grabbing my hands.

Oh, God, I said, pulling my hands from hers and looking
