    Fear Not - Christopher Bryant

    Introduction

The wait is over. You, yes you dear reader, have been waiting and fighting for far too long. The church is in the midst of kingdom-building progress and I believe that God is trying to overcome major obstacle in your life: fear.

Fear is a ubiquitous emotion that accomplishes nothing in our lives except that it holds us back. Fear tries to take over our lives, dictate our emotions, and criticize our character.

In this devotional, we are going to visit some verses in the Bible that deal with fear and anxiety. We will look at the Bible and give you reasons not to be afraid. Some of these devotions will deal with fear on a general level, others will deal with specific fears and reasons not to be afraid of them. Ultimately, the goal is to replace fear with faith and allow perfect love to cast out all fear in your life. Ready? Let’s get started.

    Day 1

Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you...

    Isaiah 41:10a WEB

One summer night during a severe thunderstorm a mother was tucking her small son into bed. She was about to turn the light off when he asked in a trembling voice, Mommy, will you stay with me all night? Smiling, the mother gave him a warm, reassuring hug and said tenderly, I can't dear. I have to sleep in Daddy's room. A long silence followed. At last, it was broken by a shaky voice saying, The big scaredy-cat!

We are often like that little boy, afraid of being alone during the storms of life. God wants you to know that even though the storm is raging, and the lightning is flashing all around, you can hear the thunder roll, the sound of the rain beating on your window is loud and the wind is boisterous, He is with you.

David says that even though he goes through life’s deep dark valleys God is with him and that’s the reason that the Valley doesn’t cause him to fear. You may be going through the valley right now and it feels like God is absent, but he promised never to leave us nor forsake us. And though it may not seem like he’s there, he in reality never left. You are not alone. God is with you. Don’t be afraid.

    Day 2

"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.

    2 Timothy 1:7 WEB

Why are you afraid? What is it that is causing you to fear? Anytime we are afraid, that means something exists (real or imagined) to cause that fear.

Experts say that fear begins with a stressful stimulus. What this means is that fear starts outside ourselves. In our text today we learned that God did not give us the spirit of fear. Well, if it didn’t come from God, where did it come from? I believe that fear comes from our adversary the devil. If he can get you to associate your fear with
