The Ache of Healing - Christine Maalouf Abi Najm
death!
I
Roses and prickles
Your eyes!
The last time my sight was free into space
Bounded by lure, invaded by fire
Your eyes were in control of the whole place:
Your forehead, your allure, your sharp attire.
Creatures around us turned into shadows,
In this invisible magnetic field
The yearning intensified, the time froze
You attacked me; I had let down my shield.
We drove in this lorry, I held your hand.
Transported in this mystic time machine,
I felt you were my love and my old friend,
It’s like you were my king and I’m your queen.
We told the story of our misery
We wept the teardrops of our history.
Euphoria!
Human yet spiritual like a waft
Tangible but yet unattainable
When the rigid spirit becomes so soft
And the fragmented wings inseparable.
From the moment my eyesight left your sight
From the instant my footsteps missed your space
The euphoria of seeing you was bright
You cannot wipe it from my wistful face
The soul is soaring like a fierce eagle
Yet like the clouds, purely white and peaceful
Wakening the bare shadows of people
From wretchedness, from being ungrateful
Love is the finest exhilaration
It’s the form of regal elevation.
Transparency!
The shallow seas and their transparency,
When they are free from plankton they’re pure blue.
Your approaches define apparency,
Profound in my heart, courageous and true!
You say that I have mystical powers,
You say I’m your first and ultimate dream.
I whiff them in our cocoon of flowers,
Words drift in the adoration mainstream.
From the point of time I pass through your door
You revive every memory we breathed
Recalling portraits dispersed on the floor
Your fond letters resurrect the deceased.
Goodness is the shrewdest form of being
Yet, it is a gloom that’s scarcely freeing.
Souls with wings!
The umbrella witnessed rare affection
Substances transmuted to living things
The rain, wind, the fireplace in each section
Taken by the nuptial of souls with wings.
The dance floor, the pool, the water, the streets
The bars, the tubs, and the diverse natures
All the tender words under the white sheets
Perceived the love of heavenly creatures.
When you do not fear vulnerability
When you turn cruel reticence to freedom
When you bond through the hearts’ fragility
You will scare the separation’s demon
Fused through emotion depth and observance
Molded into one, it’s named convergence.
Reality
The soulful conversations were ceaseless
The roads surfaced their eccentric power
The loquacious witness was left speechless
The envy in his temper became sour.
Here we are! The escapade was over
The car stopped; you handed me my luggage
A moment of truth, a harsh stopover
Heading to my door I became sluggish.
Reality, this sudden certainty,
Smashed my soul into pieces, shattered me
Transformed my present to uncertainty
I’ve wished, like a graceful dove, to be free.
Reality is a finalized choice,
An obligation and a blaring voice.
Tedious life!
Tedious life breathing for the moment
With God’s lenient wind on my shameful face
It carried gleaming tears for atonement
Of a righteous soul that fell far from grace.
My love’s wings are hovering far away
His whole life was made under compulsion
Making a living he couldn’t betray
For freedom it’s an act of repulsion.
Here I am caressing my main
