    Introducing Jack Landman Goldsmith

In this intriguing narration, author and notable lawyer, Jack Goldsmith who has previously worked in the Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) during the second Bush administration, probe the circumstances surrounding the fate of influential union leader Jimmy Hoffa, who disappeared in 1975 and was supposedly killed by the Mafia.

Goldsmith's stepfather was Chuckie O'Brien, a Teamsters official who was Hoffa's closest aide for more than two decades. Chuckie was widely believed to have driven Hoffa from a Detroit parking lot to his fatal death.

The author takes us back to his childhood when his mother was struggling to have a long term partner, and Goldsmith was still a child. His mother had suffered two broken marriages, and that had taken a toll on her mental health. However, her third marriage with Charles 'Chuckie' O'Brien proved fruitful. Chuckie adopted Goldsmith when he had been 13, and the author had revered him as an ideal father figure. However, the author, young and naïve at that age didn't understand politics and mob involvement. He also didn't realize that his stepfather was a close aid to the famous union leader, Jimmy Hoffa.

To help us understand the dynamics between Chuckie and Hoffa, the author dug deep in his stepfather's childhood.

Chuckie met Hoffa when he was nine years old. He was introduced to him by his mother, Sylvia Pagano. Chuckie inherited the worldview of his canny mother, Sylvia Pagano, whose Mafia connections stretched back to Sicily and extended into the underworld of Detroit. She was a significant figure in Hoffa's relationships with organized crime. Hoffa was a union activist from an early age and became a prominent regional figure with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT), a labor union in the US and Canada, by his mid-20s. He contributed immensely to the growth and development of the union, raising its membership to over 2.3 million members, during his terms
