SATAN

Satan is a Hebrew word that means adversary. An adversary is an opponent that can also be an enemy. In the Bible Satan is a heavenly being. In fact Satan was the most beautiful angel ever created. He was named Halel - the bright shining one, and the Day Star, son of Dawn. In Ezekiel 28 he is said to have been in Eden, the garden of God. He was described as the ‘signet of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty (of consummate loveliness)’ and he walked up and down amongst the stones of fire. He was perfect in his ways until iniquity was found in him. His beauty corrupted his wisdom. He thought his beauty and wisdom merited him to be seated on the throne beside God. He became the adversary of humanity because God (Elohim) chose to seat Man on the throne at his right hand. So Halel nurses an unrelenting grudge against God and it is what motivates all his oppositional activity and is why he became Satan, the adversary of God and Man.
