    Everything was all so different now. No amount of good harvest could soothe me and I didn't know that it ever would. When you get old your mind doesn't always age with you and mine surely hadn't grown out of being a sentimental stone. I stared over as much of my 100 acres as the horizon saw fit. The dawn started to pour in over the hills and they've always soaked up a belly full of sunlight quite nicely. Margaret had always loved that. She also would have hated that I slept so little and walked so far out to watch it. What else one is supposed to do at my age I do not know.

    I made my way across the fields and through the newly growing stocks to the stables. We had a coral full of horses I tended to that Margaret left behind in hopes we'd get them to the tracks someday. We only got a chance to the race one. She named that one Littleday. I couldn't reason to myself why I kept them still, but there they were. I took a seat at one of the pair of chairs I left out by the stables and had my daily smoke with what was left of the sunrise. Littleday rose first that morning and hung her head over the gate. We acknowledged each other and understood we had no mediator.

    The sunset probably don't look all that bright to you now do it, I asked the horse. She
