PREFACE
Writing with the Wellies
Every Wednesday morning, an eclectic mix of individuals meet at the Victoria Park Seniors Centre in Fergus, Ontario. We share stories, offer opinions and exchange writing challenges for our next session. We have all become friends, and our little group of four has grown to ten.

Trick or treat!
The calls rippled down the street.
The sound of children’s laughter.
Young ghosts and ghouls ran by comparing
their collection of candy.
Halloween was a challenge with toddlers.
Costumes and weather needs,
but mainly personalities.
Whether I turned home or away,
one of them was howling.
No Joke!
© Eric Bzikot
One morning I was woke
by a phone from a bloke
He told me this joke
about a man on-the-run,
who trod in the poop
of a cat in-a-hat.
I didn’t know this bloke well,
and I thought, flipping hell!
So I told this bloke:
That ain’t no flipping joke!
Good Trick

A father calls his son to tell him
he is divorcing his mother.
The bewildered son calls his sister
with the bad news.
The daughter calls her dad
and tells him
she and her brother
will be there tomorrow.
Husband tells wife,
The kids are finally coming for a visit.
