About this ebook
Some secrets are worth killing for.
The ancient city of Kepos sits in an isolated valley, cut off from the outside world by a towering wall. Behind it, the souls of the dead clamour for release. Or so the priesthood says.
Kala has never had any reason to doubt their word – until her father dies in suspicious circumstances that implicate the city's high priest. She's determined to investigate, but she has a more immediate problem: the laws of the city require her mother to remarry straight away.
Kala's new stepfather is a monster, but his son Leon is something altogether more dangerous: kind.
With her family fractured and the investigation putting her life in danger, the last thing Kala needs is romance. She would rather ignore Leon entirely, however difficult he makes it. But when she learns the truth of what really clamours behind the wall at the end of the valley, she faces a choice: share what she knows and jeopardise her escape, or abandon him to his fate along with the rest of the city.
If she doesn't move fast, then no one will make it out of the valley alive.

I have always written stories, but it wasn't until I started the first book in the Solis Invicti series in 2014 that I really became obsessed with writing. I love to read, particularly where the escapism of the story is enhanced with an element of fantasy or science fiction. For me, writing is simply an extension of that journey, but I get to decide what happens next (though it's amazing how often the characters seem to decide for themselves what I'm going to write!).As a new author, I love to hear from readers with their comments and feedback on the books, so please do get in touch through the website or via Twitter.Thank you for reading!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/54.5 stars ? I received this book for a honest review!
On the get go the one thing I loved about this book personally was the fantasy novel feel to it! it had a feel of mystical and magical but without the dragons and monsters! To make it feel like that I thought was amazing and gave a background feel throughout the whole book which was great!
With the plot it is unique and well thought out, at times it was slow but was definitely needed to set the pace and explain the surroundings and the people so you never felt lost as to where or who!
Most of the characters you felt a connection to even after them just having one convocation which is lovely with the nice characters because later on when you come across them again it’s a pleasant thing! But with the mean ones same thing but with anger, and again to feel emotions towards characters is a great thing!
——- Spoilers ——-
The ending was a good satisfying one! But at the same time is what made me take the half a star off.
The revelation of finding about who had been causing sadness and pain upon the main character I felt was a little rushed and out of the blue, it’s nice to have a surprise to find out the culprit but as there was no hints or mentions about the reasons it made it lose its satisfying resolve.
But saying that the ending after the resolve was satisfying! It was a happy ending, taking the journey to a gleeful place and end!
