Home Work: A Memoir of My Hollywood Years is the author and celebrated Hollywood actress Julie Andrews' second installment of the two-part memoir. The first part titled Home: A Memoir of My Early Years describes Andrew's life as a child and her rise to stardom as a singer and stage performer. In Home Work, the author continues the story further of her life as an adult and a famous actress.
The author begins this book by narrating her experience while shooting for her iconic film Mary Poppins. By the time Andrews relocated from Britain to the U.S., she already had three hit musicals to her name. Her first professional solo debut was for the musical Starlight Roof in 1947. Andrews made her Broadway debut in the London musical The Boy Friend. After the contract for The Boyfriend was nearing its end, the author was asked to audition for a small role in Broadway's My Fair Lady. She gave her auditions for playing the character of Eliza Doolittle, a Cockney flower girl, and got selected for the
